Property was even better than photos online! Woke up to beautiful sunrises and had such a memorable weekend. Place was clean and we enjoyed the outdoor tub and patio space. Communication with host was easy and he was always quick to respond to our questions.
Our family Thanksgiving vacation turned out fantastic thanks to the beautiful East Wind Property. The host Joost was amazing, friendly and welcoming. We loved sitting out on the front patio watching the sunrise, the sunset and the stars as well moon at night. The place itself was well decorated and very relaxing. Sitting by the fire with the large folding glass windows looking out at the Eastern Sierra was ideal and one of the key features we loved. Also listening to the farm live that surrounds the property was also a highlight. Far enough out of town to relax and access to a plethora of trails. We would stay here again and highly recommend the place.
We enjoyed every aspect of our all-too-brief stay: the stunning scenery, the dramatic surroundings, the extremely tasteful and cool decor and the cleanliness and comfort of the amenities. Joost and his dog Smoky were very welcoming and made sure we were settled in and comfortable. I highly recommend this unique and serene place.
This property made for a memorable stay in Lone Pine. Stunning views from the front deck and all the amenities you'd ever need. This is a perfect location for access to Mt. Whitney Portal and for a drive to Death Valley. The host was helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Overall a unique and comfortable place to experience Lone Pine.

This property was such an amazing experience for us...I could of stayed a month..the views were jaw dropping, the house was comfortable, artistically decorated, fabulous lay out, rustic but elegant at the same time..I am so looking forward to returning and extending my stay..obsessed!
Exactly as pictured a designer’s dream. Joost was super responsive and check in was flawless. The beds were super comfortable and the air conditioning was powerful (or stay was during summer). The location was ideal and provided for a perfect opportunity to experience the Alabama Hills numerous times a day under different light conditions as it was only 5 minutes away.
Incredible home, incredible view, incredible host: loved everything about it.
Joost was a fantastic and accommodating host—very responsive and helpful over VRBO messaging. Moreover, this place is exactly as it looks on the listing, which is to say MAGNIFICENT. The mountain views, the starlight, the sunrises and sunsets... it's unbelievable. And the interior design taste is impeccable. Highly recommend!
Fun , creative living space. Very comfortable furnishings, sheets, towels etc. Amazing views!!. Easy to town. Very quiet. Suggestion... Would be nice if knives were sharpened (super, super dull!) and maybe put the welcome instructions & Wifi
info on a table top so a little more obvious when entering the house. Took us a while to find on the side of fridge not facing out. Would certainly come again.
It's hard to overstate how fantastic the location and views are. Between the master bedroom and living/dining area, with extensive glass doors, and the wraparound deck outside them, there's a roughly 270 degree view west to the E. Sierras (Mt. Whtiney) and SE to Owens Lake and the Inyo Mtns, elevated from a hill. Plus easy access up into the Sierra and even walkable to Alabama Hills. The house has a wonderfully funky artsiness to it, up-to-date and sometimes luxurious in its fixtures but also sometimes minimalist in the accessories. Joost was responsive and helpful with the minor things that came up.
comfortable, interesting, creative, artistic house.
great location to visit alabama hills preserve, which is fantastic - similar to joshua tree, but we liked it better. house has a great view of mountains to the west, owens lake to the southeast, and boulders at the north edge of the yard. owner is cheerful and attentive. fun restaurants in town. a definite 5 if you come for the mountains. we, however, came to watch the perseid meteor shower from the deck. the chairs and the vistas were great; the lights in the yards of neighbors were not. one house perhaps 100 yards away had lights so bright we had to shield them continuously with our hands to preserve our night vision. seemed as bright as stadium lights. in the opposite direction is a brightly lit buddha perhaps 60 feet from the house. we did see meteors, but all the lights were distracting. in our experience, not an ideal house for star gazing.

I hate to leave a bad review but I believe others should be informed. First off, the place is gorgeous, however to me a stay is more than the beauty of a location. I felt 0 privacy during this stay. The first night we had an incident where two people showed up on our porch at 11pm. The next day I was present at the home and another person was on the porch outside. There is a camera in the backyard that is motion detected, that I discovered and wasn’t informed was there. A drone flew by the windows. We left but hadn’t checked out (it was 9:30 AM) and when on our way back the owner assumed we had checked out and had began cleaning basically forcing us to leave early. Joost was a nice guy and apologetic… but not worth the money I spent at all.

Everything was amazing! We went hiking and mountain bike riding. Made delicious dinners in a beautiful well stocked kitchen. The beds were super comfy. Spent mornings and evenings relaxing on the couch or the deck enjoying the spectacular view. Our dogs had a great time as well. We will be back! Thank you Joost!
Unique house in a unique setting. Located close to lots of desert activities, or just chill (HA HA) and enjoy the view of the spectacular Sierra on the deck. Spacious house, spacious decks, great views, all the amenities - what more do you need?
My friend and I stayed here in preparation for Mt. Whitney climb and it was amazing. It was such a beautiful location and Joost could not have been a better host. House sits on top of Hill overlooking mountains with Mt. Whitney fully viewable from back window. His place is exceptionally clean beautifully decorated, and so comfortable. I will be back with my family.
My husband and I stayed 2 nights so we could hike and off road in the area. We were going to hike Whitney Portal section no permit required but after talking with Joost he suggested a different less traveled trail Chicken Spring Lake via Cottonwood Pass, it was awesome- Thank you! The views are unbelievable from the house, the location is perfect, and the amenities and overall vibe of the house were so cool, and the A/C was appreciated. Hope to be back again!
