There are few places better for a restful, no-worries retreat than Washington's Lopez Island, and this cabin provides the perfect home base as you explore the sleepiest of the San Juans. Great for kayakers and boaters, it's just a 10-minute walk to the Hunter Bay Public Boat Launch and Beach.

This quiet home for six is only eight miles from the small shops of Lopez Village, but the tree-covered surroundings provide a peaceful atmosphere. Little touches like the stone path leading to the cabin and a log-affixed basketball hoop out back provide the property with plenty of rustic charm.

Step inside and stroll past the laundry room to the living room at the end of the hall. There are carpeting and vaulted ceilings that are made from the same hardwood as the walls holding them up. From here, step outside to the deck to breathe in some fresh air, or lounge with your loved ones on the sectional sofa near the wood-burning fireplace.

The small loft upstairs provides a futon with a flatscreen cable TV, as well as a DVD player and library. Between these and the free WiFi (limited), you'll have plenty of entertainment options.

The kitchen is only a few steps away, with modern appliances, gorgeous wooden cabinets, and plenty of counterspace. Enjoy your meals at the breakfast bar seats for five, or head out to the deck for a barbecue in the open air!

Leave cleanup for the dishwasher and head off to bed. Two bedrooms, along with the futon in the upstairs loft, allow six guests to stay here. The master bedroom downstairs has a queen-size bed, with two double beds in the upstairs bedroom. Two full bathrooms let everyone start the day easily before heading out to explore!

The less populated south side of Lopez has a wealth of natural beauty just waiting to be explored. Watmough Head to the southeast is one of the island's best-kept secrets, with a short forest path that leads to a breathtaking bay surrounded by forests and rock formations.

The views are only rivaled by Iceberg Point to the southwest - the rocky terrain and waves crashing below provide dramatic scenery you don't often get the chance to experience in real life. Wherever you go, you're only a short drive from a delicious pastry at Holly's Bakery.

Place your reservation today and leave all your worries behind you with a truly relaxing Lopez Island getaway!

Lovely stay!
Great space for a family, cozy and plenty and amenities. Our 3 year old was particularly excited to discover an Arthur VHS :) Our only complaint is that sound traveled really well through the house which made getting a 3 year old and 3 month old to sleep difficult….but that might have been hard no matter where we stayed.

Management staff needs work!
Place was not clean! We were left one piece of wood for a 4 day stay. Only two laundry pods for a 4 day stay. Called the staff the first day about lack of firewood, they said it says to bring your own. I looked for that after conversation and still couldn't find it. Dish washer still broken. Not all stovetop burners work.

Absolutely beautiful setting
We loved every minute of our time on Lopez Island. The property we stayed in was cozy, nestled in a nature setting. Very quiet area. The only complaint we had, was most of the towels & wash cloths set out for us to use, and the ones in the closet were dirty. The sheets were not clean either. I had to rewash all of them before we could use them. I did leave a review for the VRBO team, but no one has contacted me regarding it. So, I advise you to look at the linens before you use them.

Great location but property is tired
Three of us senior women stayed in April 2023. We were looking for an affordable property in the San Juan Islands and this one fit the bill. Overall, it was adequate for our needs. The location was good, beds were comfy, dining table afforded a place to both eat and play cards. But the handrail going to the loft/bedroom area is rough and two of us ended up with splinters in our hands. The dishwasher soap dispenser still is broken (noted below in a 2021 review). When soap pods are put into the broken dispenser, the door closed and the water turned on, the soap dissolves and runs down the inside of the door, leaving a cement-like residue. Dishes are not getting clean. LIght bulbs everywhere were burned out. We replaced as many as we could with the existing supply. The washer was full of damp sheets and the dryer was full of a gigantic load of sheets and towels. There was a hamper full of damp towels as well. We finished all that laundry during our stay so we could do our own before we checked out. As mentioned by a previous reviewer, the upstairs is very warm. This might be helped if it were possible to use the ceiling fan on the first floor but there was no way to turn it on that we could find. Another previous review mentioned the neighbor's unattractive yard which still exists but is tolerable since, at least, they were not noisy. This house needs a thorough maintenance check and my noted repairs made. It's a good rental property and deserves to be taken better care of.

Very pleasant, quiet, well-equipped retreat in South Lopez
We (initially 4 adults, but in the end just one couple could come) were looking for quiet and fresh, pine-infused air, and found it here in the woods a 20-min drive away from even the comparative calm of what the owner of the Lopez bike (and kayak) rental company called "the industrial north" of Lopez! (besides the ferry, the marina and village with bike rental, grocery store, bookstore, cafe, couple of restaurants--open only weekends or only for take-out, thrift shop and museum). Our phone carrier (T-mobile) couldn't get a signal until we got about to the center of the island (near the school)--which made finding the place a little bit of a challenge, so we were glad to have an approximate printed map, too. But the Internet signal in the "chalet" was easy to access and really strong and we did not feel isolated beyond what we'd sought: we ended up talking to several neighbors about a lost dog, enjoyed a local "Little Library" stand, and were quite near a boat launch and not far from the excellent hiking/nature viewing areas on the southwest side of the island. And at night, a view from the deck of a beautiful dark clear sky startlingly studded with bounteous stars. The well-equipped chalet (games, videos and books, as well as more than ample cooking equipment and washer-dryer) made a spacious but cozy home for the three days we spent there (and wished we could have stayed a week), with its wood-burning stove to take off the day's damp fall chill (but the furnace warmed the place well), comfortable couches and chairs, and views of the surrounding woods, out the large windows. We did find the downstairs bed a little soft and wished for a larger (or additional) dresser for unpacking our clothes and somewhat brighter lamps, and the dishwasher did not work very well. But we felt glad to have the option of it there and were careful to use as little water as possible in the kitchen and bath, as we understand that the island is particularly ecologically fragile. In sum, we highly recommend this property (which we found a bargain compared to places on other San Juan islands) as well as a stay on friendly, quiet Lopez (as we'd read about, other drivers regularly wave when they pass you on the road!)

Deep cleaning is necessary
Whoever is responsible for "cleaning" this cabin needs to be replaced immediately. A full review will be sent in a letter directly to the owners, who quite frankly, should be embarassed of the condition of this vacation rental property. I could leave a more detailed review here but will just give the highlights. 1. Dusty everwhere on old plastic plants, shelves, etc. Dead spiders on shelf holding glassware/plasticware above counter! 2. Coffee maker does not work. Oh it turns on but took an hour to make a couple cups. Resorted to using the french press. 3. Some pots and pans very corroded along with tea kettle. Dont use that! 4. It looks like no one has cleaned underneath the couch in several months as you will find thick layers of dust, game pieces, and food particles. Super disgusting. 4. Cobwebs everywhere complimenting the dust 5. The family games are not organized and are missing pieces. Looks like they are just thrown into the coffee table. 6. Bulbs are missing or not working in some light fixtures. 7. Stained coffee mugs and outdated plasticware should all be replaced. Dollar store trip! 8. New updated minimalist deco needed. It looks like someone said....."hey...lets just put this somewhere in the rental!" Perhaps feature local artists and craftsman! 9. I still cant believe that it is noted and appreciated if we start a load of laundry before leaving? Really? Perhaps while the laundry is going you can spend some time really cleaning! I didn't really want to come across mean but I am really dissappointed. I felt you needed an honest opinion. This place could be super awesome for couples and families but you really need to deep clean and have someone maintain this property much better at the very least. Updating deco would be a bonus. We will be back on Lopez again one day but highly unlikely we would consider using this vacation rental in the future.

This is a scenic, well equipped chalet
Enjoy the beautiful woods in this well equipped, functional and nicely decorated chalet. Cold filtered water was in the refrigerator when we arrived and so many things were there when we needed them. Beds are comfy and water for showers is nice and hot. It's a little hard to find, especially at night. It was chilly when we got into the house but it's good not to waste heating when nobody is there. You can't beat this rental for scenery and a sense of getting away from it all.

Quaint but Lacking
The Property was a quaint cabin straight out of the 70's. There were many features we loved. The peaceful surroundings, the roominess of the cabin, and how well stocked the cabin was, from games, puzzles and books to linens, dishes and wood for the outdoor fire pit. The only things that were less than pleasant were the mattresses felt like they were also straight out of the 70's. Several of us woke up with aching hips every morning. The upstairs shower when used would leak into the downstairs laundry room, causing minor flooding on the floor. Lastly there were ants that invaded the kitchen every time a meal was prepared. The price point was very appealing and with a few fixes this could be an ideal property!

Great cabin in a peaceful corner of Lopez
We had a fantastic time at the cabin, it feels like a big house and a cozy getaway at the same time - short drive to some of the best walks/hikes on the island, and only ~15 minutes to the village. The amenities were great, Vacasa took good care of us and the property - only difficulty was in finding it! Ignore the Lodgepole Ln part of the directions, I don't know why that is mentioned - you keep going on Islandale and the driveway is on the left-hand side, the 2nd of 2 driveways that are very close together.

WOODSY GETAWAY
The property is situated between two other houses and what appears to be a campground in progress. The house itself is very accommodating, with three full beds upstairs, a large couch downstairs, and a queen bed in the master bedroom downstairs. We took the 9am ferry out, thinking that there would be plenty to do on the island prior to checking in, but the main area was so small that we were ready to check in by noon, and had to wait until 4pm. That was a little difficult since we had been up since 4am. But we were able to have late check out, which meant we could take a later ferry and not worry about rushing to clean up, pack up, and rush to the ferry line. There is a dock about 1/4 mile from the property, downhill, that is easy enough to get to from the property, but the return incline is much more difficult. Also, the area next to the dock is not accessible as the beaches are "private property" and thus inaccessible. The house smelled of boiled crab when we arrived, which was very pungent and unpleasant to my housemates, we found the air neutralizer on the day we checked out under the kitchen sink. My housemates were very disturbed by the lack of a television in the living room, and only an 8 inch monitor upstairs to catch up on the news regarding wildfires. This cabin is situated similar to a crowded city, with the neighbors within shouting distance. When I originally booked the reservation, I researched the area and thought that we would be able to walk to the bay easily from the cabin. Unfortunately, there are more houses surrounding the cabin and no way to get to the bay without crossing other people's property, except following the paved road to the boat launch. There are no boat rentals at the closest launch, as I had anticipated, but there are free boats available in the only accessible ramp at the lake in the center of the island for taking a paddled cruise. If you are going for bike riding, this appears to be the island for that. We were hoping to dine out one night, but unfortunately there are very few places to dine in their tiny little Lopez Village, and the prices are as expected...$20 per plate. This particular cabin would be great for a party of bicyclists because it is accommodating for a group, and the incline is minimal getting back to the main road. They even have a grill on the back porch for grilling.

It was great
Really liked the cabin. However, two major complaints. 1) the directions are totally wrong. When we called for help they could not do any better. You had us going on lodgepole lane off of islandale. WRONG! Stay on islandale to the address on the left. 2) we could not get the DVD player to work and there were no instructions. 3) (ok I said two, but I thought of another). We could not get the lockbox unit and key back into its place. We finally left it inside the house and locked the door. I tried to call, but, although someone picked up the phone, no one answered, then they hung up. 4) (ok,again) the BBQ was filthy. I used it, but put aluminum foil over the grill. Now, a question. We were required to haul our garbage out. Yet, part of our bill included cleaning. Why? Isn't that part of cleaning? Pat
