Do not stay here. The place is unsanitary and the host is not helpful.
I booked this VRBO home for five nights. We arrived late at night and could not locate the lock-box. We reached out to the host and found the lockbox in a narrow dark alley on the side of the house. Once inside the home we noticed it was not clean. There were cigarette burn marks in the couch, the stove was not cleaned, and the floor was coated in grime, like it had not been mopped in a while. Once we went upstairs to the bedrooms, we noticed stains on the bed linen. When we inspected the bathrooms, we found gnats and flies coming out of the bathroom drain and crawling up the walls. It was DISGUSTING. We did not stay at this property. Not even one night. Instead, we spent money out of our own pockets to book a hotel. The day before our check out date, the cleaning service was finally sent. When returning to the property for key drop off, the cleaning service would not let us enter the property stating the host claimed we canceled the reservation. Which was not true. The host also refused giving us a refund and insinuated we were lying about our experiences. It’s time to abandon these rental sites and return to the hotel industry as there is far more transparency and integrity there.As for VRBO itself they would not hold the host accountable for failing to meet basic cleanliness standards and allowing the cleaning service to restrict our access to the VRBO before check out. The hosts are also paid upfront which gives them power to do as they please.
