Wine Country living at its best! Comfortable elegance awaits.

We enjoy our wine country life and would like to share it with you! Our two-bedroom, two-bath cottage sits in front of our CCOF-certified organic Syrah vines with its own private bocce ball court! Enjoy the setting of our vineyard and farm right out the french doors or from the upstairs deck. A short stroll – or ride on our complimentary cruisers – will take you to the heart of the historic charming town of Los Olivos where you can enjoy over 30 tasting rooms, shops, and restaurants. Our Bernat Winery Retreat is on our private property but in a private location from the main house. Luxurious bedding with down comforters and pillows, bathrobes, and locally crafted bath products made from grapeseeds from our vineyard, are just a few of the amenities you will find at the Winery and Vineyard Retreats at Bernat. For those who decide to make a meal at home during their stay, we welcome them to harvest lettuce and herbs from our 3-acre organic farm, also on the property. If you picture yourself coming home to a comfortable well-appointed wine country cottage after a fun day of touring Santa Barbara wine country, playing a game of bocce ball while watching the sunset over the vineyard and oak-studded hills enjoying a salad you just harvested, then you'll love the Bernat Winery Retreat!

Please note: We have Wednesdays blocked out for regular mid-week cleanings. If you would like to stay longer than a week, we can unblock the Wednesdays to accommodate a longer stay. Send me an inquiry and let me know your preferred dates.

You don't have to purchase a ticket to Italy to experience wine country living at its best!

Los Olivos and Surrounding Area: The 20+ tasting rooms, galleries, and restaurants, of our quaint little town, are a 10-minute walk (20-minute stroll) or a short bike ride away. We also offer complimentary cruisers. Our kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, there is a little market down the street (a 5-minute stroll). But with the world-class dining available in our area you might not want to boil water.
The Santa Ynez Valley comprises the Danish town of Solvang, the western-themed town of Santa Ynez, Ballard, Buellton, and Los Olivos. Aside from tasting the many vintages of the Santa Barbara County wines the valley offers; biking, horseback riding (in fact, if you have a horse and want to bring them, we have room for two), hiking, fishing, live theatre, movie theatre, shopping, festivals, surfing and much more. Santa Barbara is a 40-minute drive and the beach is only 30 minutes.
If you only stay two nights, you'll wish you have stayed more!

Charm and Amazing Hospitality

Cutest place with the best hosts we’ve ever experienced. Everything was perfect. The hosts communication was phenomenal and the welcome was like a 5 star resort. Very personal. Everything was beautiful and comfortable and the location is unbeatable. I would recommend this to everyone I know and meet if going to Los Olivos or to Wine Country.

Gem of a getaway!

Our stay was incredible! A great weekend getaway in a quiet, relaxing and beautiful place with all the right touches. The last minute tour was such a cool vibe and the organic veggies for dinner were amazing. Great location with great hosts, Shawnda and Sam. Thank you for making it such a great experience for us on our anniversary!

Amazing Stay - The house, vineyard, and farm could be your whole vacation!

Absolutely an amazing stay at this property. Being able to take a tour of the vineyard and farm was awesome. All the personal touches were so fun, cruiser bikes, chippers/garden bag to pick fresh fruit and vegetables, check-in gift, custom soaps all of which made the trip. In fact the last night we cancelled dinner reservations, biked to local store to get steak, picked fresh vegetables for dinner, and played bocce ball. You will not regret staying here just remember to go into town once or twice or you may forget too!

Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful experience at this beautiful property in Los Olivos. The owners were very responsive and easy to work with. The beds were comfortable, the house had everything we needed, and there were many special touches like a cheese plate, restaurant gift card, crackers and wine at the house upon arrival. The bikes were a fun way to get to town, which is a short ways away. The property is beautiful, and we enjoyed sitting on the front patio looking over the grapes.

Great Spot in the Vineyards

Bernat Vineyard was the perfect place to stay in Los Olivos. The house was comfortable for two couples and had all the amenities you could want. In the morning, Sam explained the wine making process as they were barreling this year's harvest, and then recommended other local vineyards to visit. We followed his advice and were not disappointed. The house was also within an easy walk of town where we enjoyed dinner at Los Olivos Café. The next time we return we plan to spend longer time.

From the first email contact to the arrival at the property, this was truly a special place to stay!! Between the warmth of the hosts, the elegant touches within the property, and the magnificent vineyard views, we highly recommend this lovely retreat. What fun it was to use the cruiser bikes and go wine tasting and into town which was so close and convenient. Playing Bocce ball and then sipping wine at sunset made this such a memorable experience!! The food at Los Olivos Cafe was fabulous!!! This is such a great place to stay if you are seeking a wonderfully located piece of paradise!!!

Our New Favorite Wine Getaway!

We arrived late due to a delayed flight and was immediately at home in the wonderful, cozy cottage! The view from the upstairs bedroom was a delight every, single morning. What a great location to visit downtown and all the area wineries - five days was just not long enough! We had two amazing meals at Shawnda and Sam's restaurant - Los Olivos Wine Merchant. Top food and service! Unfortunately, we didn't get to enjoy the gorgeous outside area or the bikes as it was unusually cold while we were there. A very good excuse for us to go back soon!

Pristine place with great view and wonderful hosts

This was our first trip to Santa Ynez Valley. We were here to experience the wines from this region. In booking this property we were impressed by the beautiful pictures of the house and it's view. We were not disappointed. This place was pristine. The location and views were incredible and both Shawnda and Sam were amazing hosts. When we go back, we will not hesitate to stay here. Also, the Bernat wines are very good. Their Syrah's stack up against anyone else in the region. Thanks Sam and Shawnda. We look forward to coming back!!

A Slice of Serenity

There aren’t enough stars to rate this lovely property. Lush vineyards, with their fall colors on full display, stunning trees of orange and gold, and the rolling hills in the distance provide the backdrop. So deeply peaceful, it’s as though we truly exhaled for the first time since the Pandemic began. Inside, a beautifully decorated cottage, with absolutely breathtaking views of the vineyards, and every thoughtful touch a guest could want during his stay. Completing the picture? Sam and Shawnda, our attentive, thoughtful hosts. They were so responsive, as well as kind and knowledgeable., and their restaurant was wonderful. We can’t wait to return! Amy and David and mountains in the distance.

Exceeded Exprectations!

My mom and I went to Los Olivos for my nephew's wedding. Neither of us have been to the valley before - we live in Illinois. Shawnda was absolutely lovely during the booking process. It was so easy and she was so responsive. The house is exactly as described, but even exceeded my expectations. Sam and Shawnda know how to make their guests happy. The details matter - bottle of wine, cheese/fruit plate, bath amenities, etc. All of the animals came to visit at least once and we loved it. The extra bonus was that we stayed during the Perseid meteor shower, and since it is so dark, I was able to see many meteors one night. I've already been recommending this place to my friends. I would go back (and hope to do so) in a heartbeat! This was a fabulous place to stay.

Perfect Tranquil Getaway

This is the 2nd time we’ve stayed at this property, and it was everything I remembered and more. It’s in the country, right on a vineyard, and it’s so peaceful and relaxing. Sam and Shawnda, the owners, left us some lovely wine and charcuterie to start our visit off right, and downtown Los Olivos is just a short walk away. It was just what I wanted and needed, and I highly recommend.

Absolutely Lovely

This was our second visit to the vineyard retreat and it was just as memorable as the first! It's so wonderful to return to a place that feels like home, with thoughtful hosts like Shawnda and Sam making it extra special. They really do go above and beyond to make their guest feel special. The combination of comfort, beauty, and hospitality was the perfect recipe for a relaxing getaway. We definitely plan to visit again.

We loved being in this beautiful cottage in such an amazing setting. The owners were very responsive and accommodating. Watching the sun set and rise over the colorful vines and the distant mountains was magical. Penelope and Piper visited us and we enjoyed meeting them. We enjoyed the welcome bottle of wine and cheese platter as we sat on the patio overlooking the vineyard. We made use of the coupon and had dinner and wine tasting at the cafe owned by the vineyard owners. Even went home with a butternut squash that was left in the organic garden adjacent to the vineyard! Loved exploring Los Olivos and hope to return one day. Can't imagine one thing to make it better!!!

We were in town for a wedding and came across this cottage. It was the best decision to stay here! Close to town. Hosts were amazing! And all the little touches were so unexpected. Will definitely stay here again!

Simply Perfect Santa Ynez Wine Retreat

This is a beautiful setting and property for a getaway with friends. It is perfect for two couples. We enjoyed sitting on the patio with our morning tea and coffee and watching the birds enjoy the fountain. Very private and quiet. Great location for getting to wineries and Solvang. The communication with the owners/mgmt. was 10 +. Well-appointed amenities. Some added special touches were quite nice (you'll see... ) I highly recommend this rental and would return again when in the area.

Perfect Girls Weekend Getaway!

The Retreat was exactly as pictured/described and was the perfect accommodations for our weekend girls trip. We came up to Los Olivos via LAX, traveling from the east coast. We got in later than expected due to some flight delays, but the check-in process was easy and the hosts even left a few lights on for us when they knew we’d be arriving on the later side. Two bedrooms and two full bathrooms was perfect. Lots of really nice details, like robes, a bottle of wine, a charcuterie board, and a nice welcome message! It was a ~5-7 minute walk to the grocery store and about ~25 minute slow walk into town. Perfect location to walk to the tasting rooms and walk home. Only regret is not booking our trip for longer!

Wonder Stay in Wine Country

What a wonderful rental if you want to be close to everything in Santa Barbara wine country but also feel as though you on a secluded vineyard away from the action. The rental was perfectly described and had all the amenities we expected. You are within walking distance from Los Olivos and a quick drive to anywhere in the valley. The hosts were fantastic communicators and helped us with recommendations which were fantastic. We look forward to our next stay at the farm!!

Wonderful retreat with stunning views

Relaxing experience, a short bike ride from Los Olivos. The views are absolutely stunning and the farm provides fresh veggies for any meals you decide to make there. Love this place.
