Manchester, Vermont is well known for its many designer factory outlets and Woodstock, Vermont for picture post-card beauty and typical New England charm.

Summer & Fall: In summer, it is the perfect place to spend a family vacation. There is fishing, swimming, kayaking and boating right in the back yard. You can relax on the deck or down at the lake in the sun any time of day. The yard is large and slopes down to the lake where the water is shallow and safe for children to wade. The lake is stocked with fish - perch, bass, and trout. Two kayaks and a canoe are available for you to explore Lake Rescue. In the fall, the foliage is spectacular. It is also a great place to enjoy a hike in the surrounding woods or antiquing in neighboring towns. For the golf enthusiast, the beautiful and recently renovated and expanded 18-hole Okemo Valley/Fox Run Golf course is 2 miles away.

Winter/Ski: The world class Okemo Mountain & Jackson Gore Resort is 2 miles away, and the Killington and Pico Resort is 18 miles for skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing. Lake Rescue usually has excellent conditions for cross-country skiing and the scenery is always beautiful. A full loop of the lake is approximately four miles. If you tire of exploring Lake Rescue, Echo Lake and Amherst Lake are easy to reach via interconnecting trails. Nearby Okemo Valley/Fox Run Cross Country Ski Center has extensive groomed trails for classical or skating skiers. Ice fisherman love the lakes, and when the conditions are right, the ice skating is also good. Snowmobiles can utilize the lakes and the nearby access to all the interconnecting ski trails that Vermont offers (one-fourth mile from Lake Rescue). In addition, our sloped yard is a perfect place for smaller children to sled.

We loved our stay at the lake house, very easy to get to and very convenient to Okemo. The kitchen was stocked with spices, pots, pans, etc - easy to cook in and the house is very close to the ludlow restaurants. It's on the way to the Sugar house which has the best Maple Creamies. The home was very clean and we loved the different sitting areas, a lot room to hang out to watch a movie or play games (which the house has). The children loved playing in the snow in the backyard; much better than being on devices. It snowed overnight and we had a few days of beautiful skiing/snowboarding. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Well kept, lovely house with great amenities and excellent communication from owners. It can be a bit noisy given the proximity to Route 100, but that's a minor issue. The house is very comfortable.

We stayed at the lovely lake house between Christmas and New Year’s as a base for a family ski trip to Okemo resort. The location was perfect for us and very picturesque in the snow. The house was warm and well appointed. For a family of 5, there was plenty of room and we found it to be as described. The journey to the Okemo base area was about 5-10mins, depending on which base you used. Ludlow had lots or restaurants and a well stocked grocery store. We found everything we needed within a 10min drive.Grainne was a great host. Communication was very straightforward and quick. Would recommend for a trip to the Ludlow area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The quiet location on the lake was perfect for our family. The home was clean and comfortable equipped well enough in the kitchen for us to prepare simple meals. We loved using the kayaks on the lake and the display of fall colors did not disappoint. Would recommend visiting… especially in the fall!

This house was just perfect for a ski weekend at Okemo. It's on a tiny road but directions provided were easy to follow. The living area was comfortable and cozy and the fireplace was lovely. Bathrooms were updated- and the upstairs bath had plenty of hooks for towels etc. Games in the living room were a nice touch. The kids loved the pair of bunk beds. Location was a super easy drive from Okemo- close enough to run back when we realized we forgot something. I would absolutely stay here again. We were a family of 4 and had lots of room to spread out. One thing to note- there wasn't really a railing on the stairs. It's fine for adults and bigger kids, but something to be aware of if you have small children or adults who have a hard time on stairs.

My 4 adult children and I spent a long weekend at this vacation spot. The house was great for our size group. There is a lovely deck overlooking the back yard and small beachfront area. The beach is shallow and weedy so not good for swimming, but perfect for launching the canoe and kayaks included in the rental price. We found a sandy bottomed, deep area by one of the islands where we spent our days swimming. We enjoyed evenings by the outdoor fire pit at the beach front, with surprisingly very few insects to bother us. I would happily recommend this place.

Two couples stayed at this cozy lake house. The location is great! Having coffee by the lake was so peaceful. The home itself was very cozy and met our needs. If there were any complaints it would be the water pressure in the shower (I prefer more) and one of the beds were extremely noisy. Turning on your side would cause it to be squeeky and loud. It was however extremely comfortable. Dealing with Grainne was extremely easy. We are definitely looking forward to coming back next summer and using the lake for more than just the views.

We had a wonderful stay in Ludlow. Property is nice- deck is amazing. Wish we had remembered our lawn games. We took the canoe and kayaks out on the water. Unfortunately, the lake front isn’t really swimmable, but it’s a beautiful lake to paddle around. We hit up Buttermilk Falls for swimming holes- super close to the house. Lots of little things to do and places to explore in the area. We had a couple of snafus upon check in, but Grainne was super responsive and made things right. She was also very accommodating during checking out. Only down side to the house is it is right on the road- you will hear the cars if you don’t plug in the fans. We will keep it in mind in the future.
