"My wife and I visited Amsterdam over the Easter weekend, but we weren't convinced by any Amsterdam hotel, so we decided to book a hotel in Utrecht and take the train from there (cheap, fast and every few minutes). Entirely by accident, I've booked this hotel which isn't even in Utrecht, but at about 8 miles (15km) away. It's a gem!
