The room was lovely, food/drinks were gorgeous (especially the lamb rogan josh), but the people were the highlight of my stay. Kind and attentive staff and great entertainment with a live band! Thank you so much for this perfect experience. Will be back to stay again :)
Super nice, helpful staff. Easy to check in. Got help with my bags to my room. Good location. Lots of value. It's an older place, but for the price exactly what i was looking for.

It’s a decent enough 3 star property in good location in town centre with car park. My bedroom was good standard. The building itself perhaps a bit dated. No issues for me with stay. Served it’s purpose well
This property was booked at the very last minute and very late in the evening after being let down badly on a previous booking. They were very accommodating and the staff were very friendly. No complaints about the room or the hotel in general, and felt they rescued from a very difficult situation. Thank you!
We stayed the night before going to the airport so we didn’t have to get up quite so early. Check in was easy and painless. Room was basic which is fine. TV didn’t work and channels wouldn’t tune. You could hear the door banging and people walking above quite loudly. Our room was ground floor and window looked onto the road which wasn’t too bad. Room was relatively clean - defo some DIY needed in areas. Main reason for low score was that water came through the ceiling on several occasions through the night. Luckily it was not over the bed but we were concerned that the cracks were worsening. We had to pile towels on the floor to stop the sound. We weren’t provided with a number to call in an emergency so had to wait until morning to report.
The staff was friendly, but that's about it. The state of the room was shocking. There was dust on everything, the room had a very bad odour and had to leave the window half open for the entire night just to be able to stomach the stench. I am pretty sure some other guests smoked there before even with no smoking sign on the door.
One staff member ruined the stay tbh for lying to me and shouting at me in the restaurant… boss and lady behind bar very nice… room was awfully small 1/5 wouldn’t stay again
Check in was easy enough, guy behind the bar was very friendly and showed me to my room, that’s where I was shocked.
Upon entering the room, I was hit with a strong smell of must and stale sweat.
The room was very dated and did not represent the photos shown on the website!
Carpet covered in stains and extremely dusty at the edges, wallpaper stained and peeling off, furniture marked and falling apart, window broken and unable to be kept open, incorrect information in guest book, stained and sticky menus / leaflets, bug crawled out from guest book and onto desk!
Bedding was clean but covered in hairs, pillows and mattress rock solid and uncomfortable.
The bathroom was pungent with strong smell of weed! Marked walls and handles falling off, scum stained toilet and sink, non-existent shower pressure & certainly no amenities as described on website either.
I understand it’s cheap, but I would rather pay the extra

Great budget hotel. Food & staff are excellent. Rooms are basic & of a reasonable size. Car park is a bit limited.
We arrived at the red lion for our stay, firstly they could not find our booking once found they showed us to our room which was in a poor condition and the smell of damp was overwhelming, we immediately looked for another hotel to stop at.
The corridor leading to my room was very musty and wallpaper was peeling off. The bedroom was not clean ,the towel rail fell off the wall and the room smelt.

Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities
Dampness, dirty, condensation, not clean, needing not changed
For a one night stay before a flight it was fine however it was very dirty. There was nail clippings and old food on the floor. Being city centre it was also very loud throughout the night.
No lift and i was struggling with my luggages on the tiny steps, no one helping me.
In the room smells smock tigarrette and i was sleeping with open window for that.
