Aberhiriath Hall - Historic Welsh home for reunions & retreats

Old Georgian manor house surrounded by three acres of landscaped private grounds, bordered by the River Dyfi on the edge of Snowdonia. Enjoy exclusive access to the private riverbank, offering stunning views of the Dyfi Valley. Perfect for adventure groups, families or friends seeking outdoor activities such as walking, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, or exploring Cardigan Bay and Snowdonia. 10-minute drive to Machynlleth or Dolgellau, where you'll find shops, pubs, and restaurants.

Aberhiriaeth Hall has a rich history that dates back to the early 18th century and was once owned by Sir John Dashwood-King.

This historic family home features five bedrooms, a lounge, a games room, a dining room, a kitchen, and three bathrooms. Three of the bedrooms are furnished with double beds, the fourth has two double beds, and the fifth offers one double bed and two single beds, comfortably accommodating up to 14 guests. The property offers breathtaking views of the Dyfi Valley and surrounding countryside, providing a tranquil and peaceful retreat for the entire family.

As an older home, it carries some of the quirks you'd expect from a property of its age — original features, slightly uneven floors, and a few charming imperfections — but these are part of what make the experience special. If you appreciate heritage, atmosphere, and a touch of old-world charm, you’ll feel right at home here.

Situated just 8 miles from Machynlleth, 15 miles from Dolgellau, and close to the village of Cemmaes, the estate serves as an ideal base for exploring Mid-Wales and Snowdonia. The sandy beaches of Aberdyfi and Ynys Las are within a short drive, perfect for a seaside day out. The majestic Snowdonia mountains are also nearby, along with various local attractions. Mountain biking enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with nearby options like Dyfi Forest, Coed y Brenin, and Nant yr Arian. For watersports, Aberdyfi offers sailing, windsurfing, rowing, canoeing, fishing, and boat trips.

The back garden of the property is bordered by the River Dyfi, renowned for its excellent fishing opportunities, particularly for brown trout, salmon, and sea trout. The Dyfi fisheries are recognized as one of the best sea trout rivers in the UK. Fishing is permitted from April 1st to October 17th, with no fishing allowed on Sundays. Guests can enjoy fly fishing directly from the property with a Fishing Rod Licence (available for purchase at the local post office in Cemmaes Road or online) and a permit (day tickets can be obtained from the Post Office in Cemmaes Road, Machynlleth, SY20 8JZ).

For golf enthusiasts, Machynlleth Golf Club, a 9-hole course, is located just outside Machynlleth, known as "The Ancient Capital of Wales." For walkers, the nearby footpaths of Glyndwr's Way and Dyfi Valley Way, just a mile from the property, offer the perfect opportunity to explore the area and enjoy the fresh air.

This house is equipped with self-checking facilities. A PIN code for the front door will be provided.

We had the most amazing stay at this beautiful property in north Wales. We were blown away by the space and the charm of the house -perfect for our group. The living areas were spacious enough for everyone to relax together and the kitchen had everything we needed for home -cooked meals. The location was very ideal, peaceful and private ,with Georges countryside views, yet close to local attractions and walks. It really felt like a home away from home and the hosts were friendly and helpful throughout. we would like to come back again.
