Wonderful

Really enjoyed our stay. Clean, comfortable, spacious room with AC. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was great. Would definitely stay here again.

Good location, clean and newly remodeled rooms. However, biggest issue is with the wifi. We should have paid more attention to the prior reviews before booking. The wifi barely works here, as most have mentioned. That is pretty important for us but may nit be for others.

The hotel is located on one of the streets off of Puerta del Sol. A little hard to find as the signage is small and not very visible. Check in is at the 2nd floor. This should be noted on the hotel address description. While the hotel room has been beautifully updated with marble floors, etc. It is small but comfortable enough for 2 people. But the most glaring thing of all is that the beds are rather tired and showing a little wear albeit comfy enough. The small refrigerator is handy for people traveling with medicines that require it. Amenities are lacking compared to the other hotels we've stayed at on this category for this trip. They did however gave us a complimentary breakfast which was a nice surprise. Overall I don't really know that the few steps closer to Puerta del Sol made a difference for us (it was approx. $55 plus more). I don't think this cost justifies what you get in the overall scheme.

The hostal is located in a great place, the rooms area confortable and pretty, however the WiFi is terrible, and that is not acceptable now, as is indispensable for a lodging to have good internet

Very friendly and service-minded staff. Always helpful and proactive. District a bit party-zone (which can be a plus or minus depending on what you are looking for). Nicely located next to Plaza Sol with good connections. Royal Palace and Plaza Mayour in walking distance.

Not the properties fault but there is major construction on the road the hotel is on. The shower is a walk in shower and no matter how hard you try water ends up all over the floor. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great location!!

I made the reservation for a larger more comfortable room. The picture showed a room with a double bed and a twin bed. When i arrived a had a double bed with little to room around the bed. Very small room. The AC/ heater did not work and when it did it only ran on AC DURING THE WINTER!!. Very cold room. The halls are very dark. the elevator is tiny to say the least. and there is only one. The hotel share the building with a residence.It is just very unorganized and will never go back!!!

Terrific place

I highly recommend Alhambra Suites! It's in the center of things in Madrid, but just off Puerta del Sol, so not crazy loud. During my stay (June 2023), there was construction on the street but the staff made the inconvenience no problem by assisting with getting taxis where cars temporarily couldn't travel. Super clean. Spacious room. Free breakfast right around the corner(s) -- might be a challenge for those with mobility issues (walking, stairs) -- but only to the breakfast restaurant which is just off-site. Terrific place!

There is work going on at the property and no taxi or transport to the street which means if you have luggage you are pretty much have to struggle to bring in the luggage to the hotel.

Al Hambra reservation information (made it clear it was on the second floor) helped to not choose the Al Hambra hostel. My partner did not like the proximity to Puerta del Sol due to the noise. Location was beneficial because so many restaurants on your doorstep. Same for the metro. In my room, there was no sink in the bathroom. It is in the main room area. Breakfast was nice

The location was great, and the apartment could have been as well. There was only enough hot water for 1.5 short showers each day - and there were three of us staying. There is a large leak in the kitchen that has clearly been there for some time - causing a bad smell throughout the apartment. There are several light bulbs out, creating dark bathrooms & showers. Only 2 towels were provided per bathroom for a 4 night, 3 person stay. There was no WIFI or hairdryer - even though the listing clearly indicated both were provided. The first floor heating unit stopped working after the first day - leaving the main area (kitchen and couch area) extremely cold - we had to stay in the bedrooms. We did not let these things ruin our Madrid trip but it was very disappointing for the amount of money we paid. Expedia/owners should refund some of our cost due to the number of issues that occurred.

Payment issue and no heating

The receptionist was terrible. He was not friendly. When I paid my bill with my US credit card, he did not ask me to pay Euro or USD, he select USD in a split of second before I had time to react. I complained that he should have asked me first because all other vendors did give me the choice. He responded that the Hotel always charged USD if you were not from Euro zone countries. If I pay in Euro, the exchange rate is based on the official rate. However, If I pay in USD, the exchange rate is way higher than the official rate. Another bad experience is that the room was very cool during my stay in early December. There was an AC control, but it only blew the cool air, not heating air.
