We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely home. The owners were wonderful, the house was well stocked and comfortable and the view was gorgeous. Two beaches are within a 2 minute walk and the amenities of town are a 5-10 minute drive. Our family of four - including 2 teenaged boys - enjoyed it thoroughly.

Five and more stars!!! We stay at this place every year. The views are indeed spectacular, and the house is very clean. It is located next to the Marchiquita beach, which is ideal for the families, especially with young children. The owners are very nice! A great place for a nice vacation!

We had a great time relaxing at this house. The owners made it easy to check in and out and provided great information about local restaurants and activities. The owners were also very responsive when we had questions about the house. The house is within walking distance of the beach and we were able to explore much of the north coast from the house.

This home has the perfect location for someone that wants to see the whole island or just plant themselves on the beach. We travelled around a bit and had a great time. Lots to see and do in Puerto Rico. A beautiful beach is a 5 minute walk and so is a grocery store with a great bakery. Overall great place to stay

Jorge and Maria met us at the airport and guided us to the rental. They were so awesome to give us a quick run-down of everything. The house is beautiful and has amazing views. We slept comfy, and are happy with the stay. There is a little grocery store near-by, which is convenient! Loved this place!!!

We are a family of four and loved this location. It was away from the hub bub, but very safe. The view is spectacular - loved waking up every morning to the sunrise and birds singing with the waves crashing below. Home is clean and well stocked in every way. Maria and Jorge were very helpful - had the pleasure of meeting Lydia who became our Abuela during our stay. Beach down the street is stunning...didn't need to go anywhere else. We loved it and hated to leave.

I must begin to say that Mr. and Mrs. Charneco (property owners) are very detail oriented and awesome hosts. The house is beautiful, spacious, comfortable and clean. From the terrace there is a beautiful scenery of the beach and the Atlantic Ocean. The house is located in a very quiet and safe area which is great for families with children. They have plenty of space for the kids to run around and have fun. My grandchildren had lots of fun and we did too!

Jorge and Maria did not fail to live up to the standards of previous reviewers. The house was perfect for the two of us to just lounge and watch the ocean (fantastic location and the waves were impressive against the rocks). Definitely can not swim in this area due to the strong waves and rocky formations but that also keeps people away. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and had the quiet, relaxing vacation we were expecting. Thanks Jorge and Maria!

10/10

We loved our stay. A nice cozy home set above the ocean. Surf sounds, great views and wonderful hosts. Maria and Jorge took us from our rental car pick up to the home. Clean, breezy and relaxing. All we could want. A nice grocery store close by for all our needs. We were close to San Juan - about a 40 minute drive where we spent New Years Eve watching the fireworks. The nearby beach - Mar Chiquita, was a great spot to watch the waves roll in. A short walk or an even shorter drive. Thanks Maria and Jorge. Hope to see you again.

We have stayed at a few VRBO homes and have been happy, this home topped them all. The house was extremely clean, and stocked with all the extras a person could ask for. You can tell a home where the owners are close enough to make sure their investment is maintained. The outdoor deck was where we lived half covered for the nights with rain and the uncovered portion great for sunning. The great beach is a 4 minute walk or 1 minute in the car, the local eateries were great and the entire stay was fabulous, we look forward to visiting again. Andy and Lisa

Villa Ilusion 2 at Mar Chiquita was a wonderful place to stay for my wife, a Boricua from Bayamon, and several adult kids--all of us traveled from Texas and Ohio to be together. The location overlooking the ocean near Playa Mar Chiquita is splendid and peaceful--especially the second floor patio. The house was spotlessly clean, large, and very comfortable with excellent AC and Wifi. The kitchen was well stocked and all three bedrooms were well provisioned including bath and beach towels. There is private parking for three vehicles and the home is only 1 minute from the beach and 2 minutes from a small grocery store by car. The beach was an 8 minute walk. The town of Manati is an easy 10 minute drive, including to the cinema, multiple restaurants, and shopping. The airport and Old San Juan are an easy 45 minute drive. The owner was rapidly responsive to all questions and inquiries via text and email. Overall, this was a great place to stay and we'd love to return. I highly recommend it and am grateful for such a perfect vacation with family in a great location!

My husband and I arrived in San Juan on the 11th and was met by the lovely owners at the car rental. We followed them to the house which was a 45 minute drive. As we came over the last hill toward the house we were met with this incredible ocean view. Upon entering the home I was struck with its cleanliness and appropriate beach decor. They gave us the tour and showed us important details along with a gift basket of Puerto Rican snacks. My husband's family lives in PR and so we went to pick up his mother, who was 20 minutes away, and brought her back to stay with us. Every morning I got up first and fixed my coffee and sat on the patio watching the ocean, seeing hummingbirds, and enjoying the breeze. The stay was absolutely perfect and I would highly recommend this property and the precious couple who owns it.

10/10

We enjoyed our stay very much! The house has a breathtaking view of the ocean which we thoroughly enjoyed! We loved spending time on the patio enjoying the view and watching the waves. Even when it rains, there's plenty of sheltered room on the patio to enjoy the outdoors. The owners are wonderful and responsive to every request, and Lydia was also amazing - helpful and very friendly. There is a fully stocked kitchen and there's a grocery store very close by. The bed was comfortable and we slept very well. We didn't really need the air conditioning most of the time but used it at night for sleeping. The air conditioning units were very quiet. The beach is also very close (easy walk or drive), but not as calm as we expected. All in all, it was a great vacation. Ours was partially a "working vacation" - a time to step away from the day-to-day to work on our businesses away from the hubbub, so the internet access was greatly appreciated also.

We had the most amazing time staying here. Maria and Jorge met us with open arms when we arrived. They drove with us to their property. When we arrived the house took our breath away, the pictures don't do this home justice. They gave us a tour through the house and gave us lots of helpful tips about things to do, places to eat, and the in's and out's of the area. Throughout our stay they were always a phone call away if we needed anything. They even accommodated us during the Boston Bombings because we couldn't get the kids home safely. Words can't even express our appreciation. The house was a very secure. When speaking of safety, next door there was a family dog that friended us our whole trip, and no matter where the kids went she stayed right by their side :) This home had everything one would need from laundry, to spices... They even had games for the kids. There was not one thing I needed to go out and buy. We absolutley loved this home and area and are hoping to return again in the near future.

During the six days we stayed here, we barely moved from the comfortable terrace overlooking the magnificent ocean. The description of the property is accurate but undersells the unbelievable beauty of the view and the soothing sounds of the ocean and the birds. We saw whales during our stay, using the binoculars provided by the hosts. The upper terrace provides both covered and sun areas with comfortable furniture groupings and easy access to the house. The house is located in a quiet area of well kept up homes. The house was clean and lovingly maintained. It was well equipped with everything we needed or wanted during our stay. We did not need to use the air conditioning units because we had good breezes and ceiling fans during the day and night. The owners met us at the car rental agency and led us to the house, about 45 minutes from San Juan. They provided exceptional customer service and we would have felt completely comfortable in contacting them if we needed any help during our stay. They want their renters to enjoy the property as much as they do, and it clearly shows. We would (and have) recommend this property to our friends and relatives. We plan to return next year.

This was our first trip to Puerto Rico and we loved every bit of it! The Villa Charespi is exactly as pictured, only the ocean views are even better in person. The house was very clean, with everything we needed (full kitchen, towels, a cd player, table games, even sunscreen). And there's a WalMart a short drive away, where we stocked up on food supplies for our stay. The huge porch — part covered, part open — was amazing, we spent every morning and night out there enjoying coffee or cocktails and listening to the ocean. The house is located within a 5 minute walk to two beautiful beaches — Mar Chiquita and a secluded beach that we enjoyed all by ourselves. Jorge and Maria, the owners, were awesome — they were always ready to answer our general questions about Puerto Rico prior to our trip to help us plan and even met us at the car rental place to lead us to the house. When learning three of us were vegetarians, they did some research and emailed us the next day with a few shops and restaurants that had vegetarian options. The house is a 45-60 minute drive from the airport (depending on traffic) and about 25-30 minutes to neighboring Dorado. Also, we loved Pecas, the neighbor's dog that joined us on all of our walks. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay and will definitely be coming back to Puerto Rico!

Jorge and Maria could not have been more gracious hosts. They met us at the San Juan Airport with car seats in tow for our daughters. We followed them to the house and were treated to an amazing view upon arrival. The house truly has one of the best views ever of the Atlantic Ocean. Playa Mar Chiquita is a 30 second drive down the hill. This beach is perfect for little ones. It is protected from the Atlantic by a rock formation. We only had one day of intense waves, and it actually was quite enjoyable to sit on the beach and watch the waves crash over the rock formations. There is an amazing private beach (although rocky) a short walk the other way down the street. San Juan is a 45 minute trip east. We took the ferry from Catano and it was a super easy trip $.50 each way. The western portion of the Island is only a couple hours away. We travelled there one day when it was raining in Manati. Walmart is a 10 minute drive, but the Santa Teresa market is less than a mile away. We walked there each morning for fresh bread and the basic necessities. Everyone in the village was more than friendly and the stray dogs were merely harmless along the walk. Despite the rain, everything was perfect with our vacation. The views are better than advertised. Jorge and Maria have a wonderful welcoming book with local highlights and places to eat. Although we only made it to two of the recommendations, each was awesome!

Our family enjoyed this wonderful home! We felt it was in a great location and also gave us easy access to many of the islands diverse activities. We are a family of 4 with 2 teenage girls (ages 17 & 14). We are the type of family that enjoys some time at the beach but also adventure. We don’t do well with “all- inclusive” resorts and we also love food so this vacation was perfect for us! The house sits atop of the hill and overlooks the ocean with a beautiful view. There’s lots of decking to relax with both sun and shade. There are 3 family tables to choose from for quality dinners and a grill. The public beach called Mar Chiquita beach is a short walk or drive down the road. We spent time there with the locals over Easter break and really enjoyed the crowd. Once break was over for the locals the beach only had a few people besides us. The ocean water is fantastic for boogie boarding and great rocks to climb. Maria and Jorge let us use their beach stuff: umbrella, chairs, towels, snorkel stuff, and ball games. Beyond the beach we went to Toro Verde in Orocovis which is a zip line. They have the longest and highest zip line in the world! Even though one of us is afraid of heights, we all went and had a blast. We did the 8 zip line tour which was perfect. The drive there is super cool. If you don’t want to go zip lining you could also go to the awesome restaurant up in the mountain Roka Dura. Both are worth the 45 minute drive up the mountains just to see and visit the mountain culture and views. Another day we drove to Fajardo and took a catamaran sailboat through “East Island Excursions.” We snorkeled, had lunch, and spent time on the island beach. Finally, we went into Old San Juan. We took the ferry as recommended by Maria and once off the ferry jumped on the free trolley straight up to El Morro castle (eat first or bring snacks/water). We then walked down and had a great day exploring Old San Juan. We ate at Barrachina restaurant and it was great! Don’t forget to go beyond the gates and walk the water. Maria and Jorge are beautiful people, met us at the airport, and were very helpful. They take great pride in Puerto Rico and it shows! Never did any of us feel unsafe. The home itself is surrounded by locked gates. Before we went, we treated some clothes with mosquito repellent chemicals but didn't see many mosquitos. We skipped the bioluminescent bay, rainforest, and cave this time but hope to be back! Thank you!!
