2/10 Terrible

"The young lady that checked us in was a trainee and not at all professional or friendly. I had booked two rooms, and she could not find my second room. I asked for a nonsmoking room as I have Asmah. The first room for the girls smelled like marijuana, the second move had a terrible smell coming from the AC wall unit. My room had cigarette burn holes in the comforter and other large holes as if a large rat was trying to make a nest. The manager came and told me if she changed me to other rooms I would only pay the price of the lowest charge for both rooms to accommodate me. I went downstairs to pay for our next day stay for the 4 of us, we were there for a family funeral. The young girl came in while the young man I started with was trying to give me a discount, she said no so we walked out to find other friendlier and cleaner accommodations. We came back to cancel my stay and she said no. I paid for rooms we never stayed in for two days. She would not go get the manager. I am asking for a refund for services not rendered. The Memphis Inn was more accommodating, the phone worked and was more economical and friendly. Sincerely, Allie L. "We had a very unpleasant experience at this place. The environment felt dirty and poorly maintained, had to wait for a front desk person and we did not feel safe while we were there. There were several people lingering around the property who looked to be using, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable and unsettling. We Had someone stop at the side door and wave us to their car we ran to what was suppose to be our room to find the door was wide open with a hanger stuck in the top of the door to hold it open the hallways had stuff all over making it a fall hazard. On top of that, the smell throughout the area was overwhelming — strong cigarette smoke mixed with other unpleasant odors. We ran back to our car and left tried to call To check out couldn’t get through to anyone. This place doesn’t even deserve one star if I could leave no stars I would. Overall, it was not a welcoming or secure environment, and we would not feel comfortable returning."

"I thought I was going to give this hotel a 4 stsr review until check out day. The room was clean with a comfortable bed, There was a microwave & refrigerator available although I didn't use them. The toilet was a slow flush and had to be flushed more than once. The carpet throughout the hotel was dirty and needed to be shampooed. Breakfast was mediocre. Something seemed missing but I could'nt quite figure it out. Maybe because there was no teabags and apple was the only fruit. I got a customer review form on arrival night which I filled out and offered a late checkout. I filled it out and put that I wanted a late checkout with a time of 12 noon. A little after 11am someone started knocking at the door. I ignored it at first. Then the knocking got louder and someone was trying to come in. So, I told the 2 women the room cleaner and the manager on duty( Noah )that I signed up for 12pm checkout. We repeated the conversation again-manager saying check out was 11 and me saying I had a late checkout of 12pm. Noah then told me to stay there till 12 noon would be $20. I said I wasn't paying $20 so I threw my last items in my purse and left. Now i don't where the breakdown in communication of checkout came from, but it made me take 2 stars off. I really would like to know why. Who offered me the late checkout? Did they not let Wingate know? Or does Wingate not allow late checkouts?"
