Matapouri beach is a long stretch of sand with clear turquoise water. Walk along the beach to the end then into the water to walk around a rocky outcropping to reach the last bit of beach. From there it’s a 20 minute walk up and over a hill to reach the Mermaid Pools. Deep blue tide pools that you can swim in, worth the extra work to get there.

"A true gem! From the moment we arrived, we felt tucked away in our own private retreat. The house is full of charm and character with plenty of space to gather or find your own quiet spot. Everything we needed was there and the location made getting around simple but honestly we were just as happy staying in and enjoying the peaceful vibe.
