We had a wonderful stay. The home was clean and the location was easily accessible to so many things. Many amenities were provided to make the stay relaxing and low stress.
We would recommend this place to friends and hope to come back.
The home is beautifully updated and very comfortable. The fenced-in backyard was perfect for our dog, and the location was perfect! Thank you for your wonderful hospitality and an amazing vacation!
Wonderful hosts, comfortable home with great accommodations for our family and dogs. Ideal location for exploring the area. Very clean and nicely decorated house with thoughtful touches.
We stayed a week here with our dog and had a great time. The location is terrific to the Chautauqua Institution as well as Mayville and Bemus Point. It is nicely updated and the kitchen has everything you need to make meals. The fenced in yard was great for our dog.
The hosts are very responsive!
We had such a great getaway to the lake! The accommodations were even better than anticipated with such attention to detail and cleanliness! The owners were wonderful and communicated everything very well and even responded promptly to a question we had while on our stay! Would definitely revisit this gem!!
Sarah and David were incredible, accommodating hosts! They were very quick to respond to every question we had, and they suggested a lot of different things to do in the area. The house was very clean, and it had everything we needed to make meals easily right at the house. Our kids loved the games they had in the house and the fire pit for making s'mores. The beds were very comfortable, and everyone slept great. We are hoping to come back!
Beautiful home, very clean and well appointed. Lots of nice touches. We were welcomed by a beautiful basket with yummy treats and an anniversary card. Our two dachshunds loved the fenced in back yard. Nice view of the lake from the deck and backyard. Nice park and ice cream just a short walk away. Lovely steamboat ride. Loved our stay! Next time will stay longer.
If you’re looking for relaxation, lake views, and amazing hosts, you’ve found it all with this adorable lake house! The hosts have gone above and beyond to ensure you have everything you need to enjoy your stay. The location is fabulous! Walking distance to restaurants, Lakeside Park, the Chautauqua Belle, and the best ice cream on the lake! We highly recommend this charming home. The hosts are so welcoming and always available to answer questions. Absolutely the best experience we’ve ever had!! 10/10 rating
This charming, beautifully renovated and decorated property deserves the top award for "Picture Perfect" vacation getaway! The hosts’ attention to detail is remarkable! The place cannot be matched when it comes to order and cleanliness. Even the photos don’t do it justice. My family is so happy to have found this little gem! The hosts have thought of everything. Chip & Joanna Gaines (HGTV fame) might have met their match. No need to go to Waco, Texas when all the touches of Magnolia Farms are right here in Western NY along the beautiful shores of Lake Chautauqua. We can’t wait to return as guests!
We made our reservation a year prior to our stay to enjoy the eclipse totality. We felt that Dave and Sarah truly wanted us to enjoy our experience. A welcome package included a huge eclipse cookie and viewing glasses. While it’s early in the season, they placed the deck furniture for our comfort to watch the eclipse. They checked in to make sure that all was okay. They have been very thoughtful with amenities. Very generous. Super clean! Very nice, comfortable space. We were more than pleased!
Where to start... this was our second time visiting CHQ, but our first time staying in this beautiful home. They have thought of everything including your pets. We felt like our dog was truly welcomed, from some pet essentials to the fenced in yard.
The owners are very sweet and thoughtful. They knew we were going to have some bad weather traveling in and reached out to make sure we knew. We loved the list of things to see and do, restaurants and activities, all done for the surrounding cities too. So many things to do and not enough time, but that's ok, we'll be back!
Again, a great home, we will definitely come back to make more family memories. Thank you.
We had an excellent stay at the Valley View Lakehouse over the week of the 4th of July. The house is in a great location in Mayville (especially for the fireworks over the 4th) and is easy walking distance to the lake and town. The fenced in back yard was great for letting our dog out. There is also a small dog park within walking distance, but we never met another dog there.
Sarah and Dave (the hosts) were very responsive to any questions we had and went above and beyond expectations. They set up a dog crate for our dog so we didn't have to lug our own around and also left us a gift basket for our stay.
The house is well appointed and had everything we needed including various seasonings, cooking oils, etc. We cooked a couple of nights and also used the grill and the kitchen had everything we needed. It was pretty hot the week we were there and the AC units in the house did a good job of keeping us cool.
Our primary reason for visiting Mayville was the Chautauqua Institute. For those considering the rental for that purpose, we found it to be a workable arrangement. It's about a 5 minute drive to the Institute, but with parking and walking to the venues, etc., you should plan that it will take you at least 20 - 30 minutes from leaving the house before you are sitting in the Amp or other venue.
A hot tip for anyone who is a fan of pies, head over to Westfield and get a pie from Portage Pie. All of their pies are delicious, but you often have to order ahead.
Fine Lake. Fine Arts. Fine Place For You & Your Dog.
Just as advertised, the Lake Cottage was a great place for our dog -- a Westie/Brussels Mix, weighing 23 pounds. He loved roaming around in the fully fenced back yard. And when his sniffari was complete, basking in the sunshine was just as good. Granted, a very active large breed dog might be short on space. But for small breed dogs, this is perfect.
The Laundry Room doubled as a staging area for the Dog Yard. Many useful items are stocked, including water & feeding bowls; pads & blankets; the necessary and proper plastic bags. A crate is available with advance notice. But our dog felt so at home the crate proved to be unnecessary.
The humans were also well taken care of. The Welcome Basket was much appreciated. We did use the well stocked Kitchen for cooking. Discovering the "Secret Toilet" upstairs was fun. Now that's a Water Closet! And having a 2nd Restroom did prove to be useful.
Communicating with Owners David & Sarah was easy & pleasant.
You aren't on the grounds of the Chautauqua Institution, but the location is very good if your visit includes that destination. It's an easy three mile commute. Be sure to turn right into the Visitors' Parking Lot; then take the shuttle bus to the Main Gate. Walking to the Main Gate is also an option. But while walking, don't be surprised if one of the friendly bus drivers offers you a lift while you're en route.
FWIW, we came for National Parks Week.
We hope to return for another stay in the Summer of '24!
Visited for 3 nights. House was very clean and cozy. Fenced in backyard was a plus for the dog. Great location and close to Boxcar Barney’s ice cream. Host was very prompt in responses. The welcome basket was a nice touch. Would return again.
Hosts were amazing and so good about communicating. House was so cute and backyard was very large so perfect for the dogs! We would definitely stay again.
We had a lovely stay at the Valley View Lakehouse. It was so clean! The kitchen and bathrooms had everything we needed. The location was great for walking to Boxcar Barneys for ice cream or a walk along the lake (which is just across the street). We also enjoyed visiting the wineries nearby and Big Inlet Brewery. We loved that we could bring our dog to the house too!
Great property in excellent shape. Very welcoming hosts, easy check-in, house has everything we (4 adults and dog) needed for a comfortable stay. Short walking distance from ice-cream store is a bonus.
Excellent location, easy access to Chautauqua Institute, Lakeside Park, and numerous restaurants. Owners were friendly, easy to get in touch with, and helpful. Highly recommend!
Property was immaculate and owners went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They provided a lot of information about the area and things to do. The kitchen is amazing and beautifully appointed. My daughter especially appreciated the welcome basket.
We did have one question and Dave responded immediately to successfully resolve the issue.
We would definitely stay at the property again.
David and Sarah provided a wonderful place to rest and recharge, The house was immaculate and provided everything we needed. Our dog truly loved the fenced in yard as well as the black squirrel living in the tree out back! They were always available for any questions and were even kind enough to warn of us some stormy weather approaching. We truly had a wonderful time!
So much has already been said about the excellent location of the house, its cleanliness upon arrival, great amenities (and now has a newly updated kitchen), so I decided to focus my comments on the owners. David and Sarah are without a doubt the best hosts we've ever encountered. They respond to messages quickly, contact you to make sure everything is going well, and genuinely seem to care about the renters' experiences. David even notified us about a storm warning! We very much appreciated their kindness throughout our stay.
The house was nice and clean, but it snowed a great deal and we (my husband) had to clear the yard for the dogs, and the sidewalks and access to the house--several times. For the price, arrangements should have been made for this.
