Brown Trout Lodge - River Front, Dog Friendly/- Minimum Age Requirement of 25 yr

A few miles north of Blue Ridge, Georgia, Fightingtown Creek arises and snakes its way through the woods to the Ocoee River just above McCaysville. Fightingtown Creek is one of the most enchanting things about North Georgia and is a true trout fisherman's paradise. This stream is stocked and is a catch-and-release only. Only barb less hooks are allowed to maximize the trout's chances for survival and growth. Don't think that a weekend fishing trip has to mean roughing it. Quite the opposite if you are lucky enough to be staying at Brown Trout Lodge. This gorgeous 2 bedroom, 2 bath custom built cabin is just about as luxurious as it gets. Nothing was spared when it came to making this cabin not only visually welcoming but possibly one of the most comfortable places you'll find up here in God's country.

Whether you are chilling out inside with all the modern conveniences you could hope for or spending some time in the stunning outdoor living space with a good book, listening to the music of the creek, or trying your luck at catching one of those trophy trout that call this area home, one thing is for sure, this trip will be one that you will be so glad you made and you will be counting down the days until your return.

With two king masters, this is a great spot for couples or for the the small family looking to "unplug" from the urban lifestyle for a few days. Don't bother bringing the laptop, not needed here and it won't do you any good anyway, no internet. Cell service is decent and there is Direct TV for viewing if you really need it.

Located in McCaysville, only 13 miles from Mercier's Apple House in Blue Ridge, makes this the perfect location for those looking to get away from it all but still not too far from what's going on in town.

So what are you waiting for? Book your adventure now, you won't be sorry!

Beautiful cabin that is challenging to reach.
We loved our stay but we were glad we took our all-wheel-drive vehicle, as approximately the last six miles leading to the cabin were gravel roads full of large pot holes and washed out ruts. The driveway leading down to the house is rather steep (I estimate it is about a 6-8% grade) and is made of loose, crushed stone aggregate. We found this property lacked many of the stocked items (smaller dishes, utensils, glasses, cups) which we are accustomed to find in the properties we rent. This property is perfect for a group who plans on spending all of their time at the property; access to the creek is decent, the outside covered living area is FANTASTIC, and their grill is brand new! However, if you plan on eating out every night, the closest restaurants are in McCaysville (a 20 minute drive), are open only five days a week and many only for breakfast and lunch. Blue Ridge is a 35 minute drive.

Brown Trout Lodge
Chose BTL for two reasons. It was on Fightingtown Creek and it had recliners. Otherwise it was on par with other quality homes for rent as advertised. Unfortunately, The picture of the living room on VRBO was not correct and there were no recliners. Just low back chairs with ottomans. Hard to relax in a chair when you have to slouch to get back support. We also had a problem with the water. Heavy sediment was getting through the cold water lines and clogging the faucets in the bathrooms and the line to the washing machine. We notified the management company and they did everything they could but it is a problem for the owner to resolve. I documented this and other issues for the management company to forward to the owner as I assume no other renter had. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the covered porch and watching the creek flow by. We had a fire in the outdoor fireplace on two nights when it was cooler. There is a downed and segmented tree on site to be used for firewood if you feel up to splitting it by hand. Several fishermen waded the creek in search of trout but had no luck. The house was very clean to the credit of the management company. I appreciated that music was playing when we entered the house. The house is well decorated with a brown trout theme and there are float tubes under the deck if you want to use them.

Spring Get Away
Beautiful spot! Even with Neighbors across the river, is still private. Loved relaxing, falling asleep and waking up to the sound of nature. Nightly fires in the outdoor fireplace were just what the soul needed. Cell service is somewhat a challenge, but that is the point sometimes...relax, unplug.

Great cabin!
Cabin was awesome! The listing didn't really show it but there are other cabins directly across the creek. Not a big deal, just wish we would have known that. Also, the huge windows on the main floor have no curtains or blinds so it kind of felt like we lost a bit of privacy as a result. We wanted to use the outside fireplace but it was a bit confusing because it has a gas line with a valve next to it but there was a fire-starter log and firewood next to it also. I emailed the rental company but got an auto reply saying they wouldn't respond until monday 9 to 5pm (of course we were only there for the weekend). Again, not too big of a deal but there could have been better instructions for that. I have to say again though, the cabin itself is awesome! Probably the best of this size we have ever stayed in and we rent cabins alot especially in the Tenn-NC-GA area.

If you are looking for a chance to unplug....
This is the perfect getaway. Downfall may be lack of internet (but it was a positive for us). Also, the driveway can be a little tricky to navigate. Otherwise, the cabin and location were perfect. Spent most our time on that magical porch listening to the stream. Easy drive to McCaysville. Loved it!

Beautiful Mountain Stream Cabin
A Great Place to unwind, relax and unplug. The cabin has all the necessities and enough storage to put away what we brought with us. Love the decor and especially the little touches to celebrate the season. Love listening to the creek unfortunately a little too cold in December to leave the windows open.
