"After a nice trip to the theatre and on return to the hotel to have a night cap only to find that the bar was closed and although bar staff were still in attendance the reception staff advised us that they wouldnt allow us to take a bottle of wine to our room and book it to our room. "

"There is no-one in reception.On the night we arrived a very loud alarm went off at around 20 to midnight so after 5 minutes I had to go out of our room to investigate what was happening.It was an alarm from the restaurant area that was closed.There was no number to call in case of emergency.I called the fire alarm people using the number on the wall and the guy told me it wasn't a fire alarm.I then called the only number available for the hotel (a landline number) and no-one answered.By the time I got back to my room at 1 a.m., the alarm finally stopped.To get to the rooms from reception there was a fire door that was wedged open both nights that we were there.We wouldn't go back there."

"Great location, great value for a hotel with a pool and gym and steam room and sauna. The staff were wonderful and breakfast was great. Will stay here everytime I visit Plymouth."

"The check in and check out were quick and friendly. The room was an ok size with comfortable beds however, the room was ridiculously hot all night with a means to turn it down so, we had to have a desk fan on all night in February! Interestingly one was provided. The bathroom was a little tight but the main issue was the poor drainage which meant that when you flushed the toilet, water bubbled out of the bath waste and when you emptied the water out of the sink, water bubbled in the toilet and out of the bath waste. This caused a slight drainage smell which was originally masked by the fact that the room smelt of aftershave when we arrived. The restaurant served really nice food at a reasonable cost, definitely worth it."

"The staff were freindly and helpful. The room was a little tired and in need of updating. The main social rooms of the hotel have characterful decor and are well kept."
