M?ja is one of the most remote islands in the Stockholm archipelago, With only just about 400 permanent residents. During summer season the number of guests on the island rises to the thousands. The little primary school holds 20 students from year 1 through year 9. Earlier people mainly lived for what the Baltic Sea had to offer but today there's only one professional fisherman left.

For visitors there are two youth hostels and at least one guesthouse, a couple of B&B and restaurants. You travel easily to the island from Stockholm and it's a 3 hour beautiful boat trip through the lovely archipelago.

I can really recommend a visit.

Bei Bett und Couch ist der Begriff „Patina“ nicht mehr anzuwenden. Stark durchgesessen / durchgelegen. Der Fernsehtechnik war nicht in Gang zu bringen, der DVD Player nicht vorhanden. "Two factors made our stay at this house so memorable: 1) The house sits on the beautiful island of Stegesund (no cars, only a small dirt road) that overlooks gorgeous water just outside of the town of Vaxholm. The July sun bathes the house in warm light all day long. You get the benefit of feeling away from the city while only being a 5 minute ferry/boat ride away from Vaxholm. "Das Haus war perfekt für uns. Die Kinder hatten ihre eigene Hütte und konnten sich zurückziehen. Es war unglaublich still und man konnte perfekt zur Ruhe kommen. In 5 Minuten war man am Meer und konnte baden oder angeln. In 15 Minuten war man an der Bushaltestelle und hatte sehr gute Verbindung nach Stockholm. Ein nettes Dorf in der Nähe, sowie ein Hafen von wo aus man eine Bootsfahrt in den Schären machen konnte oder ein Kajak zum paddeln leihen."

It’s about a five minute drive from the main road , about 25 to nearest urban areas. A very easy 45 minute drive from the city Owner was very helpful and good communication. På verandan sitter man perfekt med kvällssol och båtar i blickpunkten som kommer och går. En alldeles underbar och rofylld vistelse för den som gärna väljer bort hotellrum till förmån för något mer personligt och unikt."

"The hotel was very, very clean and up. Kept for being over 300 years old. I love the building and the surrounding area. Every place in town was easily walkable. Plenty of activities to do water in front for water taxi's. Transportation to surrounding areas very easily accessible and very cheap using water. And buses for transportation."

"This hotel is a gem! Although our stay was short we really enjoyed the hotel and we would definitely come back if we return to the area. It’s located in a small island with many activities to enjoy- walk, jog, swim, go to the spa. We booked a room overlooking the water and it was extremely nice and quiet. The room had a good size and the bathroom was clean and nice. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel. "

"A very stylish 'farm' in the Stockholm archipelago. The staff were amazingly friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. The accommodation / dining areas were absolutely gorgeous - a real treat to have such chic surroundings in a rural farm! We did the glamping which was fantastic - and gorgeous bathroom block to share with only 2 other tents. We loved the variety of animals around the farm and the various activities kept us busy for 3 days- although I wouldn't necessarily advise staying much longer than that. The only change I'd make is that if guests are paying to stay a few days, and having all your meals at the place, renting bikes or doing the activities (e.g. mini-golf) could perhaps be included in the price? They did not cost much but it just felt like they should be included in the price rather than 'extras' for goodwill. Highly recommend!"
