Villa Le Fontanelle: Home to Celebrities

Present owner of this magnificient Villa is Russian millionaire Arkady Novikov who bought it in 2008 for a price of 33 million Euros.
It was previously owned by Gianni Versace from 1977 until his murder in 1997. Before his death, celebrities such as Sir Elton John, Sting and Madonna were guests in the building.
Since the death of Versace, only American singer Jennifer Lopez and her husband Chris Judd spent their honeymoon there. It is not open to the public but can be viewed from the lake.
The Villa itself "Le Fontanelle" was originally built in 1776 and owned prior to Versace by the Cambiaghi family. Versace purchased this magnificent villa in 1977 and completely refurbished the property ay huge expense. He restored the elegant neo-classic style true to their original design and Versace supervised every element of the restoration and furnished the villa personally.

"We don't know! First we came by the property early to check the location and were treated rudely by the man working there. Then, when we came back at 3:00, the host did not provide a code to open the door. We tried to communicaye with her, and we tried to call you. No success. "Great house. Great space both indoors and outdoors. Great location. Each bedroom with its own bathroom. Perfect for family of 4 or 5. Lack of A/C tough when very hot. My suggestions would be some window covers (so easier to sleep in) and get some nicer outdoor furniture so guests can take better advantage of the 2 terraces which are quite lovely."

"The stay was very enjoyable and relaxing. Most descriptions were adequate and we found what we expected. Some problems with the water supply were promptly repaired after we informed the owner (Thanks to him - overcoming some language barriers!). The only aspect which was less ideal was the description of the way to get there. The description could be improved as we arrived late in the dark and therefore pathfinding was a bit confusing. It should be mentioned that the streets are not paved at...

"Contact with host Julia is fast and convenient. Good instructions and tips. The house itself was not very spacey, but just good enough for 3 persons. Bedroom on the lowest level was good. The sleeping couch is in the living, it was a bit warm there. Shower is good. Kitchen is small. The garden, bbq unit and the swimming pool are at the highest levels. This gives a unique view on the lake. Very nice to be there. At night you can put on the lights. "

"This hotel was perfectly located in Moltrasio. Right across the street from the ferry which takes you to all the little towns along Lake Como. The restaurant was amazing for dinner with delicious food and incredible service. It included breakfast which was really well done and had everything you could ask for! Rooms were large and clean. I highly recommend this hotel."

"This is a lovely grand hotel, you really couldn't get a much better location at the foot of Lake Como. Our room looked directly over the lake, access to the shops and multitude of restaurants took only a few minutes. The hotel had lovely period features, dining room was stunning and our room though on the small side was very cosy, the bed exceptionally comfortable and had more than adequate storage. Breakfast was good and the cleaners did a brilliant job. All in all highly recommended."

"Overall, a great hotel to stay at in Como. The location is perfect, right around wonderful restaurants to eat at, and of course by the harbor for easy access to boat travel. The room was nice and clean as well as a perfect balcony view over the harbor/lake Como itself. Breakfast was good and the staff were all very friendly including help with parking. Would definitely recommend if looking for an easy and comfortable hotel to stay at in Como. No complaints. "
