"We stayed at Mariposa when we arrived to Placencia and the last night before we returned home and it was perfect. Gladis was very welcoming at the reception, Donny was amazing at the restaurant and all the staff were friendly and very helpful. The bungalow was perfect for our family of 4, since they have bunk beds. The restaurant was good with a nice view of the ocean. They have nice swings, volleyball court, paddle boards and bicycles which is perfect to go in town. It’s less than 5 minutes drive from Placencia airport. The only thing is the ocean has so much seaweeds that it wasn’t nice to go in the water. Which is fine since we didn’t stay at this hotel for the ocean but just be aware that this strip of the island gets a lot of seaweeds…"

"We had an amazing time at Sirenian Bay. We stayed in the off season which made it feel like we had the whole resort to our selves at times. Everyone was so kind and helpful. There were people maintaining the grounds at all times which shows they really care about their little slice of heaven. The food was super fresh and always delicious. "The Starfish property underpromises and overdelivers. The landscape is stunning, designed for both relaxation and entertainment, with plenty of seating areas throughout the yard. We spent mornings and evenings on the dock, covered by the palapa during tropical showers, and swimming straight off the ladder where we saw tons of fish, plus a dolphin and even a manatee.The house is in a great location—just a 10–15 minute walk to the village. Even with a car, we often walked to enjoy the views. Inside, it had everything we needed with plenty of space to relax.The owner, Gail, was responsive and informative from the start, and the caretakers, Luisa and her family, live next door and do a fantastic job. Luisa went above and beyond: she picked us up at the airport as a courtesy, offered to take us to the market and pick up our rental car (we declined since the company was already arranging pickup), and even offered a ride back to the airport at the end. On a hot afternoon, they surprised us with fresh coconuts harvested right on the property.We experienced only a couple of brief power outages, but everything was restored quickly. The location is also a huge plus: while Placencia was struggling with sargassum seaweed during our stay, Starfish’s geography meant we could still fully enjoy the water.We will definitely be back—Starfish is the perfect space to unwind, recharge, or even get some work done."

"This is our second consecutive summer staying at this property, and we absolutely love it. It's the ideal hotel for anyone wanting to feel truly connected to Placencia village life. We enjoy our morning routine of jogging, then picking up fresh fruits and vegetables from the local markets—all just a five-minute walk away. The numerous nearby restaurants are also a huge plus. The staff consistently provides exceptional service, with Kendra at the front desk being particularly outstanding. When I accidentally left my passport in our room, she immediately took charge of the situation. She arranged for a driver who was already heading to Belize to turn around, retrieve my passport, and deliver it to me in Belize City. We're already planning to return next summer."
