"Spacious and well laid out accommodation. Well equipped and comfortable. Ground floor accommodation with great accessibility. Only negatives were that heating was way too hot and couldn’t control, showers cycled randomly from boiling hot to cold and a lot of negative instruction signs telling us what not to do or couldn’t do gave it a bit of a negative feel."

"A lovely old inn, upgraded and updated to offer all of the contemporary comforts one might want, including free WiFi /Internet. The room was medium size, with a queen /double bed and wonderfully illuminated bb its skylight. The bed and bed linens were outstanding; couldn’t be better. The pub & restaurant were as charmingly English as a Yank could want and the food was very good. I would return in a heartbeat, given the opportunity, and recommend it to any single or couple. It might be great for larger families, too; I simply don ’t know."

"The Bay Tree House was lovely. The room was clean and comfortable; Gary was friendly and helpful; and the location is a short walk to town. I also walked to both of Thomas Hardy’s homes. Max Gate was a leisurely ten minutes away; the cottage was a longer walk, but the route through the Dorset countryside was indescribably beautiful."

"The Smugglers Inn was delightful. The staff were all extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Food was excellent, we had dinner there which was really good (advise booking it was full when we were there), and breakfast was great. Delicious choice of different fresh croissants, and fruit and cereal options. Full menu with lots to choose from for cooked breakfast, we had the full english which was scrummy and filling. Room was really nicely decorated, and everything you needed. Big tele! Extensive choice of different tea, coffee and hot chocolate options, and cans of water. Really nice toiletries in the bathroom. Great rainfall shower. Only slight negative was that the room was a quite warm after a hot day, even with the window open. Difficult to know what they could do to help with that in such a lovely old building, have a fan maybe? I couldnt take a star off for it though as it was too nice not to be 5 star! Great spot for a rest after a hard day's walking on the stunning jurassic coast."
