Peaceful Basement Apartment among serene woods, paths, and a stream near Acadia

Our property spans 4.5 acres of forest on Mount Desert Island. You are welcome to walk the manicured paths and relax and rest in the chairs, benches, hammock, etc. that you find throughout the property.

The basement apartment has two spacious bedrooms, a common area, and a bathroom with shower.

A microwave, 10 cubic feet refrigerator, coffee pot, toaster, dishes, and a bucket dehumidifier are included in the common area. A Crock pot is available. A large fan can be found in each bedroom.

Parking area has standard and 14-3 access.

If you use the canoes or kayaks all individuals must wear life jackets (available and provided).

We do have a right-of-way to Long Pond. At the end of this right-of-way is a small beach you are welcome to use.

Our secluded property is centrally-located on Mound Desert Island (MDI) and within 25 minutes of all destinations in Acadia National Park.

Due to increasing sensitivities, we ask that you please refrain from using perfumes and strong deodorants.

Fun visit

We were able to enjoy the property, kayaks and explore the area! We enjoyed the location, bedrooms and used the grill. The hosts even got out some age appropriate toys for our kids to enjoy and showed them how to make a bird feeder!

Great location and friendly owner

This is a great location for visiting all parts of Acadia. The owner is friendly and accessible and gave us a tour of the pretty property. We ran out of time to take advantage of the kayaks, but Long Pond is just across the street. A good home base for exploring.

Excellent stay

We found the location very nice. We were first-time visitors to Acadia, and the property location is a short, pretty drive to hikes and sights. The bonus is that it is very quiet and secluded (unlike Bar Harbor). Excellent value for Maine, and the host is exceptionally kind and helpful.

Acadia like a local

JF and Sue provided us with great recommendations for sights and restaurants that made us feel like locals. They’re scenic property is centrally located < 20 minutes from anything you need. Definitely would stay there again.

Amazing Stay!

Our little family stayed at this property and it was perfect for what we needed. Our active 2 year needed a place to play and rest in between our adventures. This place checked all of the boxes. Lots of cute touches for the kids and super quiet! Very close to Acadia NP and Bar Harbour. J.F. was so friendly and helpful during our stay as well. Can’t wait to come back!

This was a perfect basement unit to relax in after hiking all day at Acadia. The hosts were amazing with communication and gave us recommendations on hikes, food, and unique things to do. We also had the option to use their canoes and grill. They wanted us to truly cherish our Maine experience.

Great location!

Great property with short drive to scenic Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Do not expect luxury but very comfortable with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath on over 4 acres with beautiful surroundings. Owners are very welcoming and will give great recommendations of things to do in the area. We very much enjoyed our stay and cannot wait to return to the area again soon.

Quiet, central location

Quiet forested location away from the crowds, but the central location made it a great home base and it was quick and easy to get to either side of the island. The hosts were welcoming and quick to respond to messages. We stayed here with our 1 year old daughter and our close friends that we were traveling with. Our only regret is that we weren't there long enough to take advantage of the lake access.

Close to everything Acadia!

Nice basement to retreat to after spending the day in the park. Property was very clean and as described. Owners were friendly and helpful. We used the kitchenette for a simple breakfast and packing our lunch for the day ahead in the park. We had a nice stay!

Biking Acadia

Was looking for a safe place to leave Ebikes at night without having to load and unload every day and this property was tucked away on the quiet side but within a 15 minute car ride to most everything on the island. Also, got in some great hiking nearby from the suggestions in a binder the owners have for their guests. Would book again.

Great Location and Amenities

We loved our stay here - we picked the property because its location on the island as well as the amenities available to us. Having free access to kayaks and beautiful ponds whenever we wanted is an amazing perk of staying here. Also the hosts are great and helped us out with any questions we had about the area, as well as dusted off some of their old toys for our baby to play with! Highly recommend staying here if you want to be on the island within 20-30 mins of everything, and want to be able to explore the property on foot or by kayak! Thank you!

Great location and hosts

The two bedroom basement apartment was clean and conveniently located to both sides of Mount Desert Island. The beds were comfortable and the place was outfitted with all the necessities for an extended stay.The property was quiet and peaceful. There was access to Long Pond across the street from the property and a sandy beach swimming hole about a 200 yard walk down the street. Hosts J.F and Suzanne were very informative, extremely accommodating and friendly. Their dog Brandy was also an exceptional host. Overall an outstanding place to rest and unwind after many adventures in Acadia National park.

A great space to explore "the quiet side"

While we've bee to Acadia many times, we'd only been to the "quiet side" once before for a short visit. We absolutely loved it, along with all of James' great recommendations for hiking and dining.. The property was perfect for us - idyllic Maine views and lots of land for our toddler to explore. While we didnt take the canoes out, we were also excited to see it as an option. Meeting James was also truly a highlight of our trip - so kind and gifted in his craft (we even got some of his photography at the Bar Harbor craft fair to commemorate our trip!) While I think this place woud be great for anyone, I thought it was especially well suited for a family. I sometimes worry that with a toddler and an infant we'll make too much noise or not have enough space to be comfortable, but the privacy of the basement, abundance of space and land to explore and kindness of our host made it the perfect spot for us.
