"Very disappointed in the pool area- clean but very small space near the road. Two lounge chairs- not inviting at all. Pleased to get beach chairs/towels to use free for the day from the hotel so just went to the beach instead. Definitely made up for the lack of a relaxing pool area. The room was very clean and updated - location was fantastic- just a quick walk down to the beach. Coffee/bagel Shop next door and restaurants walkable. Walked to see the seals at LaJolla cove. Surprised at the reasonable price for that location. Staff was friendly and helpful. Coffee/tea/cocoa and water provided in the lobby. There was instant oatmeal available as well…. Wouldn’t call it breakfast Overall, a good stay for the price "

"They do have construction going on so that is what it is, the room was nice and updated inside however our balcony overlooked the back parking lot where construction workers were at and was right next to the elevator so there was literally no privacy on our balcony. The showerhead is rainfall style which if you're a woman and you don't wash your hair every day like me, you have to lean back to avoid getting your hair wet. Overall it was fine, the location is key here, walking distance to see the seals and walk down to the beaches. "

"This hotel is well located and the staff are helpful and very friendly. The property was undergoing renovations and our room was not updated yet. It did have a nice balcony and we really appreciated the access to a VERY well equipped gym that gave us wonderful daily workouts and was clean and friendly."

"Significant understaffing through out the hotel not acceptable for this grand and historic property. Lots of extra fees on the checkout bill, almost funny except it wasn't. Late checking us in. Room and shower were nice. Location is great. "

"Very good location, walking distance of the coves. So much shopping nearby. Also near a very safe part of town. Rooms cozy so would recommend one person to a room with one bed. Staff super friendly and helpful. Would come back. "

"Location was the best close to the ocean and a short walk to shops and restaurants staff was ok I forgot a few tops in the closet and no one would help me to get them back other then that it’s a good place to stay "

"Street parking was easy. The location is close to the beach. Pull out mattress is as advertised, but additional pillows would be nice. Overall is felt clean, the floor felt like it could use a good sweep/vacuum though. "

"The parking was safe and easy, the housekeeping was kind and friendly, the front desk didn’t make me feel welcomed and we had to wait until 4:40 pm for check in so past check in time even though they told me it was ready. It was my birthday weekend and the staff wasn’t the best at pivoting any special requests. Will not stay again."
