Chose this place as it was close to public transport connecting to both airport and central Munich. Also had a kitchenette and laundry available which were both handy, grocer walking distance away. It was a quiet and safe location. Comfy bed, good shower and warm temperature during winter. Reception was great and had some complimentary drinks in fridge. Overall great value for money.

I went back and forth between giving this hotel 4 or 5 stars, and settled on 4 not because there was anything wrong, but because it just wasn’t perfect. I’ll get the less than good (there’s nothing bad about this hotel) out of the way first. It’s a bit of a walk from the closest train station which matters when your feet are tired from a long day of walking. It’s also a few miles from the city center and the train to the central station costs around 5 US dollars each way which can add up. The room was small and there’s no air conditioning or ice machine. The hotel does not hide this and it is typical of many European hotels. Just something to be aware of. The other issue is that there’s no restaurant nearby so make sure you eat before turning in. There is a supermarket close by though and that leads into the good. The room had a small microwave and a refrigerator which was very handy. The bed was very comfortable and the room fan did a decent job of keeping me cool enough while I slept (but I wouldn’t rely on it during the heat of summer). The shower was one of the best I’ve ever had in any hotel at any price. There’s no phone either, but with nearly everyone having a cell phone and the hotel offering free WiFi, it’s not much of an issue. If you’re on a budget that keeps you out of the heart of Munich and don’t mind a bit of a walk, then the Flag Meiller Garden could be for you.

Great option for families attempting to drive into Munich for vacation. On site parking and an adjacent city playground made this a good option for us. The nearest metro is about 10 minutes away and has a straight shot (U3) to Marienplatz, which is where most people will go. A word of warning, do not attempt to park in the underground lot before you check in. There is a code for the garage door and you will be stuck with no way to turn around.
