In my opinion, that space is part of the restaurant. So unless you’re purchasing from the restaurant, it makes sense that area is reserved for patrons only. "Excellent place to stay. The gentleman at the hostel offers pick up and drop services from Yudanaka station, Snow monkey park and some onsens in Yamanouchi. Although he speaks only Japanese, he uses a translator and tries his best to communicate with you. We will be staying here again when we come back."

"男性１名での利用、初めてのスキーヤーズベッド…若干の不安を抱きながら宿泊してみました。 同室の方は２名、２段ベッド×２の部屋を３名での利用でしたが結論から申し上げると良かったです。 メシは美味い！風呂も快適 布団もフカフカ！部屋は狭いけれど清潔で、遥か昔の寮生活を思い出し楽しかった。共有スペースが２ヶ所（談話室？とミーティングルーム？）あったので眠る時以外はそこで持ち込みのワインやコーヒーでのんびり過ごせました。 …とは言え相部屋ですから気は遣います。家族や仲間４人で１部屋借りれたらきっともっと楽しいでしょう。朝食は６：３０からですからチェックアウトの日でも余裕で８時スタートの奥志賀ゴンドラに乗り込めます。１人でガンガン滑りたい方、仲間とリーズナブルに楽しみたい方にはオススメです。 機会があればまた利用したいと思います。 部屋のコンセントが少ないので電源タップや延長コードなどを持参した方が良いですよ。"

(When flushing the upstairs toilet, it is difficult to sit on down stairs toilet. water will pop-up). Using kerosine heaters are not good for the closed rooms. There was no air ventilation system."

"I stayed here for three weeks and really enjoyed it! Close to the Cortina and Norikura slopes and if you wanna go into town or the other ski areas, the bus stop is literally just outside the door. Nice owner, free use of the kitchen to make my own food, good wi-fi connection and great help with my ski equipment that I rented there. Totally recommend this place!"

"It's our second time to stay here as they got everything we need, washing machine, kitchen, spacing and nearby the slopes. Love everything here. It would be even greater if they have a curtain in the bedroom as I'm not a morning person and it's so bright in the morning."
