"This was literally the best vacation I have ever had! Being apart of Bill and Paula's family for a week was an exceptional experience! Bill had all transportation set for us. It’s an extra fee to have him do it but well worth it! Yes the accommodations are very basic but we were very comfortable. Foam mattresses, a private toilet, sink and shower (which is a gravity fed single pipe). The showers are cold water only but it feels good with Fiji always being warm. Whatever excursions you pick, DO NOT miss snorkeling with the sharks! I’m typically very timid about those things but it’s very safe and a once in a lifetime experience! The water is SO clear, it’s truly amazing! We also really enjoyed the sunset fishing. Paula fed us very well! She is a great cook and you will not be hungry! Expect local cuisine like fish, sausages, fruit, ramen, potatoes, eggs and bread. My boys play rugby here in the states and their most favorite part was joining the village kids each night at the school to play rugby in the evenings! Donations to their local team and school are always welcome and encouraged. Please note that the women and men of the village dress modestly so it would be respectful and you will feel more comfortable if you bring shorts that go to the knees and t-shirts with sleeves. Bill and Paula really go so far out of their way to make you feel at home and comfortable. We felt so blessed to meet them and their kids. Shout out to Jim, our fellow rugby fan! Go Fiji Go! "The bure was nice and clean, and the food was really good. However, the internet here is very weak, so if you need reliable internet for work, there are better options available. The staff was nice, but not as friendly as at other resorts or homestays. Note: We came to this island to swim with the sharks, but unfortunately, they don't offer any activities on Sundays."

"Stayed in a beachfront bure at Barefoot Kuata, and it was fantastic - very comfortable (super comfy bed), amazing outdoor bathroom, very clean, great airflow, and right on the beautiful beach. The staff were friendly and I was able to do the shark snorkel, which was good. Unfortunately I wasn't able to do the shark dive as it was booked up and there was only one day where it would have been possible for me, if it's something you're interested in I recommend booking it as soon as you're able- I heard it was incredible. Over my stay was great - the island is stunning, staff is friendly, and food was good (one night was a buffet, one night was a la carte). Snorkelling off the beach was great too, you have to go out a little ways but then it's very good. Reef sharks can be found there too. I'm really happy I went with the beach front bure, it was ideal!"

"Barefoot Manta is a wonderful, small resort on beautiful Drawaqa Island. The staff are wonderful, friendly, and make you feel at home. The bures (and from what I heard, the dorms too) are clean and comfortable - being able to walk out straight to the beach is a joy! The food is great with lots of veggie options, and the bar makes some tasty cocktails. The reason I chose Barefoot Manta was both for swimming with the Manta rays, and for the Marine Science centre. Swimming with the rays is amazing! And I really enjoyed the talks at the science centre. Also, the reef at Barefoot Manta is probably the healthiest one I've ever seen in my life - the snorkelling is amazing and the diversity in coral and other sea life is really wonderful. I cannot recommend this gem of a place enough, it exceeded my expectations by a lot, and I would very happily return (and for longer) to this amazing spot!"
