The home puts you near all the action, conveniently located within a short drive of hotspots like Schlitterbahn, the Comal River tube chute, downtown New Braunfels, Wurstfest, Whitewater Amphitheater, Gruene Hall and much more! But, many guests rarely leave the home once they arrive at the large private compound of Opas Haus.

While we cap our capacity at 14 people (ALL in quality beds - NO sleeping on futons, couches, air mattresses, pullouts, etc), the home provides ample space for all to enjoy both inside and out. With two primary (one on each side of the home), 2 secondary rooms, 3 Full baths, two living spaces, two dining spaces and a huge, family style open kitchen looking over the water… everyone will have a comfortable place to enjoy, and then crash after a long day of fun!

If you are more the adventurous type, hop on one of the provided kayaks (2 adult, 1 Double, 2 kids), Canoe or SUP boards(2) or use the floating island to enter and splash around in the water. Or bring your own vessel or floats and adventure the lake for fun, for exercise or to fish! You can even bring a BOAT or JETSKI! Or just use the kayaks, tubes, floating island (provided) or other floats to just hang out in the water! We have easy access points (Stairs) for you to get to the water. Or just jump in or walk into the water from the stairs!

The home is perfect for bringing family and friends together. With 10+ foot ceilings throughout, there is nothing cramped about this home. There are two dining areas in the large open plan, each with sturdy tables that can seat up to 8 people (both also great for board games, cards or just drinks and conversations). There are also extra bar stools for the breakfast bar or island in the heart of the large kitchen. The two living areas are open to each other but provide their own unique feel and uses. The kitchen opens to the main living area which is located between the large dining spaces. It has couch seating, a large flat screen TV over the fireplace and overlooks the entire backyard and waterfront. Just over is the 2nd living area with more seating and a foosball table. Nothing in this house is cramped and there is plenty of walking around space!

But, you probably won’t choose Opas Haus just for the indoor space! So it also comes with over 1500 square feet of covered outdoor spaces as well!! Right out the window covered back of the home is a large patio that hosts another large dining table, PING PONG table, outdoor lounge seating, gas BBQ Grill, and additional sitting spaces…All overlooking the 140 feet of waterfront bulkhead/dock and Lake Dunlop!

Want more? Step off the open patio into the lawn where you’ll find a Bar located under the iconic 70’ Cypress Trees! There is also a fire pit, boat dock and storage shed that provides more fun (yard games, life vests,, floating island, etc).

For those who want to take in the area, there are numerous fabulous restaurants, shops and grocery options within 2-8 miles of the home..including Schlitterbahn Water Park, Comal River Water Chute and the Historic Downtown New Braunfels. Or, for those that may like a short day trip less than an hour away…hit the adorable shopping and eating districts of Gruene, Tx (15-20 min), Wimberley, Tx (45 min),, San Marcos, Tx (Outlet Shopping : 15 min) or the big city life available in San Antonio (River Walk : 45 min) or Austin (1 hr).
