Beautiful scenery, mediocre outdated home
The good, the bad and the ugly. The scenery was beautiful—sunrises and sunsets over the Ohio River were stunning. The house is spacious, with comfy beds and large rooms, perfect for our big family. Tucked at the end of a dead-end street, it was peaceful. We appreciated the outdoor grill, Blackstone, and propane fireplace on the deck. The master bed and bath were nice and the beds were soft. However, the house was not clean on arrival. The host offered to send someone, but we declined. Water pressure was weak, and the jetted tub didn’t work. We tried contacting the host but got no response. Entertainment was limited—some downstairs games but upstairs had just one small TV and minimal outdoor activities for kids. The dock wasn’t out, and the outdoor space lacked charm or function. No fire pit, no hammock, and nothing to make kids want to play outside. The home is outdated—older appliances, no microwave or toaster, and worn carpet. Several issues like holes in walls and broken lights gave it a rundown feel. The upper deck was under construction and off limits and the railing on main deck was loose and felt unsafe and there was only one exit and entry (through the basement), which raised safety concerns. Photos showed a beach and dock, but those weren’t available. For the price, it didn’t meet expectations. With updates and a lower rate, it could be a great stay, but we wouldn’t return as is.
