Terrible service

No idea what this hotel is like. They moved me to another property, only telling me at the last minute. I was actually en route to the place. They sent me a new address claiming it was "2 miles along the road". The hotel I ended up in was a best western in Newcastle, which is about 20 miles from the chilton. It is however 2 miles from another oyo whoch I assume I had been moved to without telling me. This was the first time I had used an OYO. I won't be rushingtouse them again. They are incompetent. The owner claims to have developed the model to provide service. The message has not gotten through to the staff.

The property has an ideal location and a peaceful area. However the rooms advertised on Expedia are not the ones you get unless you pay the top price, this we were not aware of and to say the rooms were a big disapointment, our expectancy was shattered. However we put this as our fault we should have inquired at the booking stage, but not knowing weather the holiday would come about due to the Covid rules changing on a weekly basis we didn't bother we just wanted a break, We have already lost two Holidays this year so just to get away was bliss.

No toiletries. A leftover empty bottle of someone else’s Radox shower gel in the shower. No batteries in the TV remote. No info at check in about breakfast times or location. No one sitting at reception when we arrived... felt ghostly. Hallways extremely hot. To be honest it was like an American motel from the movies, you get what you pay for!

COLD ROOM and NO WI-FI

Stay would have been better had it not been for poor service when asking for heating to be put on had to wait 2 hours to be given an electric heater. No wi-fi even though this was advertised as an included with the room. Breakfast was the standard cooked English and room was a decent size.

Best mates break away

We had an amazing time, food was gorgeous, both the staff & owners made you totally feel comfortable & at home, they were all so nice & friendly. It has just been taken over & they have already started updating the public area’s to a very nice standard, they still have the bedrooms to update but I am sure they will be done to equally as high standard. The beds we slept in were amazingly comfortable too.

Great value for money

Stopped for one night. The service was very good, friendly and welcoming and there is plenty of free parking. The food in the restaurant was tasty, hot and very good value for money. The bar/lounge area was fine. The room I had was large, with a great bathroom including rainfall shower. The best thing was the breakfast, piping hot and hardly any wait, would definitely stop here again when visiting the area.

Pleasant stay

Pleasant stay. Although we arrived and found there was a wedding going on. Having said this, we didn't hear any noise from the wedding party but staff looked a bit tired on arrival. We booked two rooms and found out one was on a seperate floor to the other one, meaning splitting our family up on different floors. We discussed this with staff on reception and after a bit of a wait, we were given a different room just a couple up from the main room. Thanks to staff for sorting this for us. There was one issue. Shower gel from previous guest left in our shower which made us think that it hadn't even been cleaned before we arrived. Apart from this it was a pleasant enough stay.

Hotel was good, clean tidy, food at night was exceptionally good, belly pork was sublime, excellent selection of drinks, good ambiance and not overly expensive. Definitely worth staying again

2 night stay

We had a great stay. 3 adults in a superior room. Loads of space for us; double bed and single bed as well as a large sofa. Plenty of storage space; cupboards, drawers and wardrobe - we were able to store away all of our belongings leaving the room clear. TV, but didn’t watch. Hairdryer, iron & ironing board, kettle & plenty of tea & coffee. Really decent sized mugs too. Large walk in shower with double shower heads and good power. Found staff really friendly and helpful. Breakfast fresh cooked in the morning if you opt for it. Had a two night stay and couldn’t fault it. If visiting in the area again, I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Overall an ok enough stay

Nice enough and handy location for what I needed. Staff friendly. Room a little dated but seemed clean and well equipped enough. Thin walls and squeaky floors made for a bit of a noisy night. We had an adjoining door which was not being used by us but the sound of next doors snoring carried through it! Got charged for breakfast , although I'd been sure it was included , bit unhappy about that. I am looking in to it. Main event Room set up for an event and it looked lovely. Nice breakfast which was just as well! Cereal , toast, juice and full English.

chilton hotel needs updating old and tired

shower too small floor boards creaking tv too small needs updating lights are very dull in the room kettle did not work properly had to hold button in to get it to work not very clean hairs on the sink
