About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Hike, fish, swim & ski! Close to Grandfather Mountain, skiing & Linville Falls

Our mountain cabin is nestled in the trees within the Linville Land Harbor Community (Newland, NC). Our home features 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms.

The master bedroom has a king size bed with an en suite. The second bedroom has a queen size bed and the lower level bedroom boasts two twin size beds and a queen size pull-out couch for additional guests. Our cabin can sleep a total of 8 guests.

The kitchen is fully stocked to meet all your cooking needs. Appliances include: microwave, dishwasher, toaster, blender, hand-held mixer, crock pot, and Keurig coffee maker. We want our cabin kitchen to feel like home.

Ready to relax? We have two living room areas on the main floor. A smaller sitting area allows you to cozy up by the fireplace and kick up your feet on the over-sized recliner and watch TV. The second living area we lovingly call the "treehouse room." This sunroom allows you a wrap-around view of the trees surrounding the cabin. Pile onto the L-shaped sofa to watch a movie on our 60" TV. It's peaceful and a favorite relaxation spot for our family and friends.

A fun space for kids is the lower level. Walk downstairs to a domain that is private yet accessible for parents. You will find a comfy sofa to sit and play Retro Atari. The lower level has a dining table for snacks and games. We have lots of puzzles and games to share with you.

Our large deck is perfect to enjoy the outdoors. The covered area allows you to enjoy the view if it's raining and on sunny days you can grill and dine at the outdoor deck table.

On the main floor we have a full size washer and dryer to assist with your laundry needs. We also have an iron and ironing board should you need it. All your linens and towels are provided for your stay. A baby gate and Pack-n-Play is located in the lower level closet. Outlet covers available.

The elevation at Linville Land Harbor is a cool 3600 feet. At this time we do NOT have air conditioning, as normally we do not need it. The cabin is housed with many fans to help keep you cool if needed. When the windows are open, they bring a nice breeze. We also have Google Home which make turning on and off lights, play music and gain local information in a snap. A list of commands will be available for reference.

Linville Land Harbor is a community full of activities. As our guest, you will enjoy all the amenities. Take a dip in the pool, enjoy fishing, play a round of golf, and hike the surrounding trails.

What drew us to Linville Land Harbor was the convenience to the surrounding attractions. You are a short drive to Grandfather Mountain, 15 minutes to Sugar Mountain and Banner Elk, 25-30 minutes to Beech Mountain, and 30 minutes to Boone and Blowing Rock. Both Sugar and Beech Mountain are popular ski resorts. At Beech Mountain, there is a children's sledding hill that children can sled for free. If you like snow tubing, Jonas Ridge and Hawksnest Snow Tubing is a short drive away.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is just around the corner and is a beautiful route during all seasons (but autumn is just gorgeous)! Linville Falls and Linville Caverns are nearby as well. The Linville Falls and Banner Elk Wineries are close by for the wine connoisseur or novice.

We hope you find our mountain getaway a place that makes you feel at home. The mountains are calling...come and join us at Balsam Cabin.

So much is included!

We had a marvelous time! Comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen (we cooked all our meals at the house), and the included community amenities are above and beyond. Downstairs is great for kids. Very private feel while still within a community.

Great, super cozy stay!

We had a great ski weekend here. The property had plenty room for all of us. The king bed in the main bedroom was super comfy! The TV room is great for watching a movie all together. There were plenty of cozy blankets and the fire was a nice, easy way to warm up the house and feel cozy. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and we made all our dinners. The linens were clean and the game room in the community center was super fun! The host is super reachable and answered my many questions quickly. We would definitely stay there again!

Great family getaway

We had a great time at the Balsam house! It is perfect for families. We've stayed in a few houses within Land Harbor and this is easily the most updated and convenient. The baby gate was clutch for us (thank you, John!). The beds were comfy and the kitchen was very well stocked. We were able to cook all the sides for Thanksgiving at the house! We would happily return. Highly recommend!

Spacious and sunny!

We enjoyed our month-long stay! Plenty of sunshine, space, and amenities. The kitchen was well-equipped for meal prep and cooking. Our family of 5 was very comfortable. The owner was quick to respond to any messages. At this time there is no A/C, so on the warmer days be prepared to pull out the fans and open the windows to create a breeze with the clean, fresh mountain air! We found lots to do in the area. Our kids loved Tweetsie Railroad and Grandfather Mountain, especially. The towns of Boone and Blowing Rock are close by with fun playgrounds. There is a Children’s Playhouse in Boone that was absolutely delightful, and would be great to visit on a rainy day. Overall a 5-star stay, with very courteous owners!

Great summer getaway

I've stayed at this property several times in various configurations of girlfriend getaways, and it's been lovely every time. We especially love the glass porch, the neighborhood, and the table sufficient for puzzles and board games. It's always clean, and communication with the hosts is great.

A lovely site with a very family oriented floor plan

Even though the lot is small, the dense rhododendrons provide a very effective and lovely screen, making the site much more private than it otherwise would feel. The open floor plan and large family table encourage family interaction, just what we were looking for. The kitchen was highly functional and the bedrooms well staged. A very enjoyable family stay.

Spectacular

I loved the layout of the property. There was plenty of space to congregate or segregate. Google house was fun. There was a couple very small things like a used sponge for dishes , There was only 1 pod for dishwasher (I left a bag) A heavier wall decoration had fallen off the wall behind toilet in the main bathroom. However these are barely worth mentioning. It was very clean and very cozy! Plenty of TV viewing choices was a plus! Overall I highly recommend!

Great Vacation Rental

This home was perfect for our family vacation. Super clean, plenty of space, easy to drive to, comfortable beds, TVs in every room & just so cozy & comfortable. Our family really enjoyed the game room at the community rec center & the beach area at the lake. It’s just a short distance to all the attractions that we visited, including Grandfather Mountain, the Alpine Roller Coaster & Tweetsie Railroad. We definitely plan to stay here again the time time we vacation in this area.

Linville Memories

Stayed here for proximity to Linville Gorge which I often hiked during my college years in the ‘70’s. Wonderful visit there and wonderful stay at this house. Had to speak with owner a couple times and he was always helpful and pleasant. Everything was clean and functioned well. Highly recommend.

We had such a great time here! The house is beautiful and offers all the amenities needed and more. It is extremely comfortable and welcoming. There is plenty of natural light. There is abundant space so that we could sit all together or enjoy the separate living areas. The kitchen is very well equipped. The trail around the lake is within walking distance from the house. It could not have been better. Thank you!

Hidden Gem!

Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely cabin. Home was Extremely clean and one of the most well-stocked vrbos we’ve ever stayed in. We were here over thanksgiving and the kitchen had all needed appliances/cookware/pots and pans to cook the entire meal! My girls loved having their own space in the basement, playing music on the google nests, and making s’mores at night. They also loved the numerous neighborhood amenities and park. Beds were very comfortable and entire home is very cozy. Already planning a return trip this summer! We visited Linville caverns which is close by and also hiked to Linville falls - 10/10 recommend!!!

Perfectly pleasant in every way!

This cute little cabin in Linville Land Harbor is a gem! Well stocked with what you need, very clean, and very comfortable beds and couches. Great little basement level was perfect for kiddo. Super close to the pool and beach, this neighborhood has great amenities and such a convenient location to enjoy the area. Lack of A/C wasn’t a problem even staying in June it remains quite pleasant with plenty of fans. Easy to contact hosts. The outdoor grill could use some TLC, we decided not to use. But great fire pit area and deck. Make sure to eat at The Tin Trout while you’re there!

Another 5 star review!

Everything you read is NOT exaggerated. This place truly is a gem and well stocked. It is cutely decorated, very clean and you can tell the owners take pride in their place. It has a downstairs that is perfect for teens, tweens and younger children. I want to come back in the spring and fall! The only thing I can think of is the driveway is sloped so you need a four wheel drive in the wintertime if there’s snow or ice. We really enjoyed the area and the home is cozy! 100% recommend

Anniversary Weekend

We made a last minute booking with slim choices and found this gem. The house is comfortable and well equipped for a small family, couple or girls’ weekend. The owners have thoughtfully decorated the house there was ample seating for relaxing and dining. The kitchen had more than you would expect to find in a vacation home…even a Ninja cooker. Master bed mattress was very comfortable. We were only sorry our trip was so short! Would love to visit in summer and enjoy some of the area amenities. Our entry code didn’t work when we arrived, but the owner was quick to answer our call and let us into the house. Great experience all around.

Nestled in the trees

The house is set in the trees. Local attractions are about 15 minutes or more away. We immediately thought the place smelled clean and for the most part it was. There was a dirty diaper on the deck, some paper towels under the beds in the basement and a pocket knife near the front of the recliner. That was placed in the drawer to the right of the stove. Cooking utensils and pots and pans are well stocked. Air fryer/instant pot and keurig are nice to have as well. The house doesn’t have central air and was extremely stuffy. Even opening the windows didn’t provide much relief. If foregoing a/c, more ceiling fans are needed in the main living area. The basement was the most comfortable room temperature wise. Water pressure is top notch. The deck area was nice. We just wished for the table and chairs to not have had a layer of pollen on it. The grill was used but is much to be desired. It needs a hefty cleaning. The soot in the bottom was actually catching fire. The parking does accommodate two cars but it is snug. Also, I would take pics of the driveway space from the road. It’s at a slant and someone with mobility issues may have a problem. Overall a nice property and would stay again if the air flow was a bit better.
