Stepping through the bold orange door of BeachSpace, it's immediately apparent that this is far more than just a classic townhouse by the beach. Rather, it's an inspired architect-designed reworking of a stylish Edwardian villa, re-created with sustainability and coastal lifestyle in mind. The entrance hall is an inviting space, with exposed original Cornish brick walls and quirky tiles hinting at the thoughtful design throughout. The ground floor is open-plan, a bright and welcoming space with tall windows that flood the interior with natural light. The living area is a cosy haven, featuring comfortable seating, a large smart TV and bookshelves filled with captivating reads adding a homely touch to your stay. The dining area centres around an oak table, perfect for sociable meals or quiet moments with a morning coffee, while the modern kitchen, complete with a quartz-topped island and ample workspace, is a dream for those who love to cook. Skylights above the kitchen area bring glimpses of the Cornish sky, and a large sliding door opens onto a private outdoor courtyard dining area, adorned with festoon lighting for long evenings. A convenient downstairs WC completes the ground floor of this Crantock holiday home.

Ascending the staircase, the first floor reveals a thoughtful split-level design. The lower level includes a bunk room and office space, ideal for children to claim, as well as anyone seeking a peaceful nook during the day or in need of a well-connected workaway space. A few steps higher leads to two further bedrooms — a serene double bedroom with a cosy seating area, and a bright twin room. On the same floor, the family bathroom, complete with a bath and overhead waterfall shower, is beautifully tiled in tarrazzo. The second floor is dedicated to the principal bedroom, a tranquil sanctuary featuring a king-size bed, a private en-suite shower room, and a pitched reading nook with views over rolling fields. This top-floor retreat feels wonderfully private, making it a perfect escape within the home.

Outside

The outdoor spaces at BeachSpace are as thoughtfully designed as the interior. The front decking area, with its reclining sunbeds and bench seating, is a wonderful spot to soak up the sun, surrounded by thoughtful landscaping and planting. At the foot of the steps there's a convenient surf shower for rinsing off after a day at the beach! At the rear, the private dining area comes alive at dusk, illuminated by festoon lights and accessible via the sliding kitchen doors or a side path - if you fancy a break from the beach of an evening, this space is ideal for socialising with family and friends. There are two private parking spaces at the foot of the front garden, connected to the decking and house by flights of attractive stone steps. At dusk the steps and front decking are softly lit so you can continue to enjoy the stars.

Please be aware the owner has a small studio at the very back of the rear garden with separate access. You may see him from time to time during your stay but please be assured your privacy is respected at all times.

Things we love

The firsts thing, of course, is the location. BeachSpace enjoys just about the best location in Crantock being (literally) the closest place to the beach that you can rent on Beach Road. Being just moments from the beach and close to the village centre, this home makes it easy to enjoy all that the area has to offer. We love that, here, you're on the edge of stunning and unspoilt coast and can explore westwards over the poppy-filled fields of Porth Joke ("Polly Joke" if you're a local), or amble though the dunes and Cubert Common to Holywell Bay. You can head eastwards over the Gannel (paddle across if it's low tide!) and right into Newquay with it's restaurants cafés and bars. Not to mention Crantock beach itself - owned and managed by the National Trust, and flanked by beautiful West Pentire and the wildlife-rich Gannel estuary. It's all about the beach here, and guests of BeachSpace can enjoy discounted surf lessons or paddleboard hire with Big Green Adventures — the perfect way to explore the waves or float up the sandy estuary on the tide. After a day of adventure our favourite thing is to wander home to the comfort of BeachSpace, rinse off sandy feet and flip-flops in the outdoor shower, savour an alfresco meal, and settle in for a restful night, soothed by the calming coastal air.
