Enter the home through the grand entrance that is the castle inspired brick turret spanning the entire height of the property. The grand two story great room offers 180 degree mountain views centered by a brick fireplace surrounded by all the comfy seating, plush chairs, bean bags, sofas.
The well stocked kitchen, with 6 person breakfast table, flows into the formal dinning room, all while providing the opportunity to spot wildlife looking out towards the pond.
This main level also features the master suite overlooking the forest beyond the property.

The second level boasts 4 bedrooms, including the turret bunk room, and a dual vanity bathroom with steam shower and a large soaking tub, all accompanied by a loft living room with smart TV.

The lower level, is where the fun begins. Theres something for everyone. In the mood for games? Play some 8 ball in the billiards room with sweeping views adjacent the turret bar. Play a round of virtual golf on Golden Tee Arcade. Or sneak back to the arcade cave for some shuffle puck, foosball, or pac man. Looking to chill? The house was fantastic for hosting a weekend get together with cooking, fires, lawn games, and plenty of indoor entertainment. The kitchen is incredibly well outfitted with a large variety of high quality cookware including a large cast iron collection, plenty of pots and pans, and a few heavy ceramic pots which worked great for a slow cooking some pork. The property is maintained incredibly well and it was a pleasure spending time outside or inside during our stay. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a house that can be the focus of weekend, as well as anyone going up to newry for the mountains and nature. The hosts were very communicative and provided everything we needed and requests ahead of our stay. No complaints whatsoever, would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The Tough Mountain
This was a truly beautiful property even more amazing upon arrival. We drove 6 hrs to get there when we arrived we were a 1/2 or so early. Kirk the property manager and his crew were finishing off there preparation for our stay. He informed us a nearby lake to visit and an great restaurant called Ebinezers. I’m not sure if we were supposed but my daughters paddle-boarded the pond and had a blast. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to rent a mansion. Its well worth it

What a great place for our annual New England vacation
My family vacations every year with 2 other families - six adults + 6 kids (ages 9-16) - and this house fit all of us very comfortably. The house was beautiful and well maintained, was a short drive to great hikes and swimming holes, and communications with the owner/manager were quick and easy. Two minor negatives - the WiFi signal was pretty weak and did not cover the entire house. Also, there were no air conditioning units in the upstairs bedrooms so it got pretty warm up there at night. All things considered, it was a great place and I would highly recommend it to others looking for a place to stay.

I’ve rented literally dozens of homes in Maine from HomeAway. I like to say I live like a pauper and vacation like a king. This home truly is a castle. From the turret to the thrones (super comfortable chairs in formal living rooom (there are three), I was amazed at the grandeur and design that went into this home. But design and grandeur is not enough to earn a 5 star rating from me. Those important elements were followed up with top notch property management (Erin was the best - she was there for a few things that can come up when renting a home and gave me her text so I could contact her for any of my or my guests needs at any time - she went above and beyond). As well as cleanest, most well cared for home I’ve ever stayed in. Take all of that and drop it into the most beautiful setting this side of the Mississippi and you’ve got Solitude. Incredible…

Perfect house for a ski vacation
This house was amazing. The owners were extremely accommodating and house had everything you need to unwind and relax. Hot tub, steam shower, and an amazing view of Sunday River. Highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back.

Winter wonderland
Rented the house for an extended family Christmas. It was perfect, enough space that we were able to escape when needed. The setting was ideally close to Sunday river, and the views even better. The billiards room, the hot tub, or lounging by the fireplace meant was plenty to do but ice skating on the property pond was the kids highlight. We would love to come back. Thanks for renting such a wonderful home.

Beautiful, spacious, relaxing home with all the amenities.
We had never rented a house before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but we all had the best stay. The house was clean, spacious and had something for everyone to do. Our teenage children loved the billiards room and watching movies in the tv room. Our parents enjoyed the beautiful views of the mountains from the living room area. We definitely would love to rent it again. Beautiful home!
