This cottage is really lovely. Great location, nice host and has everything needed for a holiday. The pub in the village is a minutes walk and serves nice food - what more coul you want. We stayed in November but I would like to visit in spring or summer as the garden looks a great place to sit and have a glass of wine.
Maddy and Godfrey were wonderful hosts and gave us lots of great tips for places to visit. The cottage was perfect for the 2 of us, and the garden is beautiful. A lovely break, we will definitely be back! Thank you both, Jane & Alli
Lovely cottage, cosy, clean in a lovely little village with a pub. Cottage was as described. Lovely area and lots of narrow lanes! Great hosts who were accommodating.
The property was perfect for a couple breakaway. Village was extremely pretty with a fantastic pub two minutes walk away. The food was home cooked and plentiful (real ales and great wine list) ate there most nights. The cottage had everything you needed and the owner couldnt have been any nicer or more accommomodating. Little village shop which had most things and the villagers were lovely. Would definitely stay again.
A lovely cottage in a quiet secluded village. Our hosts had thought of everything to make our stay very cosy and comfortable. Even a bottle of wine to welcome us. We would thoroughly recommend Acorn Cottage.
Cozy cottage in quintessential pretty Devon village.
Such a brilliant location for us to explore the English Riviera along & around Torbay. The cottage in that village was all we wanted as a base for our explorations. Acorn cottage had all the facilities we needed and was clean, convenient and cozy. Thanks to our host for making us feel welcome!
Acorn Cottage is a lovely comfortable and spotlessly clean property. We were Lucky with the weather so got to sit in the sun on the lovely patio. The cottage is tastefully decorated and there was everything we needed for our stay. If we visited the area again l would definitely book this beautiful cottage.
Quaint little cottage in a small quiet village, perfectly located for exploring.
The property was spotlessly clean and well equipped. Very nice owners that welcomed us on arrival.
We will certainly be back again.
The cottage and Village were both exceptionalWe had fantastic weather for last week in MarchOn recommendation of our host Maddy we toured the whole area around the Cottage with the sun out we found our way to Blackpool Sands just below Dartmouth, Wonderful with a lovely beach bar/ CafeThe cottage was spotlessly clean and very well laid out it was like home from home We would highly recommend
This was the second time we have stayed at Acorn Cottage and it was just as good as the first. A lovely cottage in a very peaceful village with good access to the local area. The pub in the village (100m walk) serves excellent food and is very cosy. As to the cottage, it has a lovely "cottage feel" to it, very clean and very well equipped. The owners are very friendly and helpful and we would thoroughly recommend it as the perfect place to stay to explore the area.
Acorn Cottage is welcoming as are the hosts. The village is a delight and having an excellent pub 50 yards away is a real bonus - great food there too. There is also a community village shop. There are so many lovely places nearby to visit; Sheldon, Topsham, Teignmouth to name a few and we enjoyed time in all of them. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in a beautiful location then this is it.
Lovely, well equipped cottage, very quiet, despite being in the centre of the village.
Sadly, the polished wooden staircase wasn’t featured in the pictures of the property, not ideal for guests for 70+ years!
Local pub, brilliant for meals.
We had 2 great weeks lovely cottage lovely Village local to beaches very easy to get to plenty of places to visit within easy reach.
Maddy and Godfrey very helpful great hosts would definitely go again.
Super! :-) Home from home, exactly as described. Lots of special touches, like milk, flowers on the table, toiletries, dressing gown & slippers. Lovely to have a choice of eating breakfast downstairs in the kitchen, and dinner upstairs in the dining area, then relax in front of the log burner after walking over Shaldon Bridge to Teignmouth beach and back (via the local pub The Church House Inn among a village full of pretty thatched cottages , also walked down to Coombe Cellars pub - notice the recurring theme ;-) ). We also drove to Totnes market, Paignton & Torquay. Our hosts were super friendly too, with lots of ideas for walks. Hope to stay with you both again :-)
My partner and I stayed there all of Christmas as we just wanted a Quiet Christmas. From start to finish we had a Fantastic time. Everything was perfect. The Cottage was very warm with the Heating plus we had a Log Fire. Definitely give it a score of 10 out of 10 for Cleaning. It was also Decorated very lovely with Tree, Lights and all sorts of tasteful Decorations.
500 yards down the road was a Fabulous old Fashioned Pub. We went there for a meal on Boxing Day and it was Delicious. The Landlord was really friendly and all the Staff.
If you need a place to stay in that area I would
100% recommend Acorn Cottage.
Maddie who owns the Cottage was very helpful and very friendly. This Cottage is a Credit to her.
Found the property easily enough by following the directions given by the owners. We also did very well for time arriving at the property and asked if we could check in a little early and the owners responded quickly with a yes.
Everything was as advertised, and the owners popped in to say hello and left us a bottle of wine which was lovely - we had seen from other reviews that it's standard practice for them and not something that you get everywhere.
We made full use of the log burner as it's a treat for us and it made the upstairs very cosy and snug over a rainy, windy weekend.
A warning to others who stay here to be careful on the stairs, although very beautiful solid wood they are slippery and my partner almost fell down the whole lot while wearing socks. But please don't let that put you off staying, just take care!
Only gave 4 stars for location and area because the property is a little overlooked and packed in very tightly with other cottages. The pictures don't necessarily show this, but the village itself is beautiful.
Overall a lovely place to stay and I imagine in the summer the garden is beautiful in bloom.
The village pub is nice, but we loved the Goose far more!
Fantastic cottage in a great location. The cottage has everything that you could need. Very peaceful location and host was fantastic, couldn't have wished for a better few days away and will definitely be returning.
Lovely cottage, beautifully setup, clean and tidy. Hosts were welcoming and very helpful with advice on places to eat and help lighting the log burner.
Beautiful cottage well equipped with everything you’d need, check in is so easy and we had a fantastic stay would definitely go back such a pretty village with lovely friendly people what more do you need.
Lovely hosts who were very welcoming and helpful with ideas of what to do.Accommodation was clean and perfect for 2 people with everything that you needed.Village shop and pub 40 yards down the road.Very quiet location but in a good location to go out to places.Would recommend and we hope to return.
