"Superior Room: lovely big space, with western style beds and traditional tatami mat lounge area that can be sectioned off by sliding panels. Aircon a little bit iffy, but mostly worked with a bit of fiddling about, supplemented by opening windows a bit. Quiet, even with windows open – just the soothing sound of the river. Lovely bathroom with twin wash basins, and private shower and lovely hot onsen bath on a private balcony. Large key locked safe in room. Comfy beds with two pillows available for each. Elaborate Japanese style dinner and breakfast. Staff were very helpful with some English language skills. Great location close to temples and shrines, and also near a bus stop that goes to Kegon falls and nearby ropeway. Also is only a short distance from the Shinkyo Bridge and the northwest end of town. Coffee machine instructions only in Japanese, and Google Translate of them not entirely helpful – had to look up instructions in English on the interweb and YouTube. Only small criticism: no power outlets by beds to charge your phone."

"Great choice of hotel for an overnight trip to Nikko. The hotel was new, modern, clean and well equipped. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the shower was powerful and the towels were soft. I was very happy with this hotel and would highly recommend it. "

"This was our third stay at Asaka Hotel Kinugawa Onsen, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. We booked a two-night stay purely for relaxation, and it was exactly what we needed. The buffet breakfast and dinner continue to impress us with their sumptuous spread—a wonderful balance of local flavors and variety. Every meal feels like a culinary treat that elevates the whole experience. One of the highlights for my wife is the in-room onsen, filled with natural hot springs water. She truly enjoys the privacy and comfort of soaking right in our room. As for me, I took full advantage of the public baths, which are always immaculately clean and well-maintained. It’s clear the staff takes pride in ensuring a serene and hygienic environment for all guests. Asaka Hotel has become a special place for us, and we look forward to returning again."

"The beds were very thin mats on the floor with the worst pillows ever and terrible duvets, more like a quilt in an exposed duvet cover. The room was large but empty. After a long day of taking multiple trains I could have cried. It was pretty much like sleeping on the floor, with sketchy bedding, two sparse threaded towels, the toilet didn’t flush very good and the bidet sprayed water on the floor. It was the worst room I’ve ever stayed at and yet paid $370 Yen for one night. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else!!"

"The area is convenient. It's close to town, the train station, restaurants, and a grocery store. The room is good enough for 2 people and the view was amazing. The staff were corteous and hospitable. "

"We love the surrounding area of the hotel. Peaceful and so close to the famous Shinkyo Bridge and Toshugo Shrine. The walking track to the Kanmangafuchi Abyss was excellent. If you love nature, this is the place to go. We were lucky to experience the Spring Festival and enjoyed the warmth and hospitality of the small-town people. The hotel itself has lots of history. The room is really spacious and modern with a view to the mountains and bushes. The staff were very accommodating despite their minimal English. My Japanese Breakfast was excellent. Definitely we will stay here again when we come to Nikko. "
