"Umekoji Potel is a great property for those who want an open environment while staying in Japan. Our room size was comparable to most Western hotels and the balcony overlooking Umekoji Park made time in the hotel a treat. Tge park is a wonderful outdoor space, with many activities and events , used by local residentsvand visitors. The many unique common areas(coffee, evening drinks, music, rooftop deck, etc.) were great amenities to complement our stay. The close proximity to Umekoji Krotonishi station was a plus for midday and off hour train access(as it is the last station before arriving at Kyoto Station, however rush hour inbound trains are stereotypically packed with commuters. We will definitely return on a future visit. "

"Walking distance to Kyoto Station. Great value. Small room with sink only. WC on same level as room and shower with onsen at level 1. There is coffee beans and nice assortment of tea provided. Highly recommend this hotel if you don’t mind a small room which is not ensuite. "

"This is one of my favorite hotels in Japan. The hotel is new and clean. We got the room with 4 twin beds and it was great for our family to have our own beds. The bathroom is also spacious. The onsen was great!! It has 3 tubs with different temperatures with lots of shower space. The locker room was big and has a few vanity areas. The laundry has 4 machines but we still had to wait for our turn but it was not too bad. The hotel has direct access to the train station which is nice. The lower floors has a few restaurants to choose from which is great! There’s also some activities you can do at the main floor and they also sell snacks. The hotel is right beside a 7-Eleven which was very convenient."

"This hotel is great for the price. My booking came with breakfast and dinner included. The food was pretty good. Breakfast is buffet and dinner is a choice of two set menus, plus a salad bar. The room I had was ok. I know people say the rooms are small but I found it fine. A double bed, sofa, table for TV etc. the bathroom was a bit small but it was fine. The hallways leading from the lift to the rooms are open (to a certain degree) there is a central open core running up through the building which is open but in October it was fine. It might be cold in the winter. All in all I had a nice stay here and would stay here again."

"Kitchen setup was cleverly hidden under a table but the staff was super helpful. I love the area around the hotel and it was super convenient to walk to different places or get to a subway station. The only downside is that the ensuite laundry doesn’t have a dryer but it was not a deal breaker "

"Convenient hotel near a train station, very easy to move around. The room was clean, tidy and more than enough for our family of 3. Breakfast had limited options but good enough for a couple of days. Service was outstanding with everyone being very attentive and patient. "

"The room was big and even had a sofa. Also appreciated the seperate toilet and spacious bathroom. But what really stood out for me are the staff. Every single staff I encountered were super nice and helpful. I felt welcomed and it made my stay feel like home away from home. "
