"The listing doesn’t make it clear but this is a private room in a shared apartment with shared bathroom facility. It wasn’t a problem for me but it was a surprise, especially at this price. You also aren’t told that check-in is in a separate building (in this case down the street). My room only had a small window opening onto the stairwell by the front door so it wasn’t always quiet. The apartment is on the third floor with an elevator featuring a sign saying don’t panic, elevator is slow. Check...

"The proprietor was the most kind and helpful person in that position I have ever encountered in my many years of international travel. I have some mobility issues, and he brought our bags both up and down the steep stairs to the rooms. The breakfast on the unbelievably lovely top patio was simply fabulous and had a panoramic view of the Adriatic and old section of town. I highly recommend this spot as the place to stay in Polignano A Mare Italy "

To make matters worse, the noise wasn’t limited to outside — even inside the house, it was disturbingly loud. The lack of soundproofing in the room made it feel like there was no privacy at all. "The room was clean and nice, bed was OK, but you share a bathroom with 5 other rooms and it seemed like it was always busy when I needed it. Parking not easy, but not impossible. Service was terrible. There is no automatic cleaning or replacement of linens you have to ask in writing, and it can only happen in the morning. The cleaning lady was INCREDIBLY rude. A smile or hello goes a long ways, but this woman seemed incapable of that."

"This place is very remote. Dark to get to at night. Check went as promised except our Canadian credit card wouldn’t work in their payment machine. So ended up paying cash. Property is very cute. I heated pool. We passed on breakfast so can’t comment on that. Room was very clean. Safe. Must have a car. 20 minutes drive to Bari. Peaceful and quiet. "

"A great place. Nice bed and a wonderful shower. Good working air conditioner. Very helpful hostess. The only drawback we found was that we had to take a number of stairs to get to the apartment (a total of 54 steps and no elevator). Furthermore, a great stay and a good base for exploring the area."
