About this property
Dunecastle - Near but no access Oregon Dunes
Dunecastle is a custom-built coastal home from the 1980s featuring reclaimed redwood timbers, panoramic views, and exceptional privacy.
The home includes: • 4 bedrooms/ 4 bathrooms (2 full, 2 half) • Sleeps up to 12 guests • Pool table and game room with king bed • Loft with twin bed • Large wrap-around deck • Ocean, dune, and lake views • Multiple gathering areas • Full kitchen • Washer and dryer • High-speed internet • Overflow parking in field (not seen from house)
Important Things to Know Before Booking
Dunecastle is a unique home with character and a natural setting. Guests who appreciate privacy, scenery, and a one-of-a-kind property tend to love it.
• Access requires traveling approximately 1/2 mile on a gravel road. • There is no direct beach or dune access from the property. OHVs must be trailered to nearby Oregon Dunes staging areas. •The master bathroom shower features a large window that looks out toward the dunes and ocean. While it can feel exposed at first, this area is on a private section of the deck accessible only to your group and not visible to neighbors or the public. • The lower-level bedroom and half bath are built into the hillside and may occasionally have a musty odor. • The home features softer, ambient lighting than many modern homes. Some guests find portions of the house dim while others enjoy the atmosphere. • Children under 5 should be supervised on the wrap-around deck. • Small bats occasionally roost in the exterior cedar siding during warmer months. Keeping unscreened doors and windows closed at night helps prevent wildlife from entering the home. Due to the vaulted ceilings, if a bat enters the home, it may be difficult to remove immediately. • Guests have access to the entire house except the garages and outbuildings.

Amazing place!
We weren’t sure what to expect at the property but it was an incredible place to spend a rainy, cozy weekend. We loved the cleanliness, the fireplace, the great kitchen, the comfy rooms and beds, and the easy check in/check out. Highly recommend!
A group of us celebrating a couple 40th birthdays had a blast at this giant house! Quiet and away from everyone, yet a close drive to Coos Bay or Charleston bay.
Beautiful house, very roomy for our family. Beautiful view. It is not haunted, dont read the guest book lol. House needs new fridge, it leaks and was dirty.
We liked the house definetly big enough to hold the whole family .Beautiful views

Great group space, stellar views and good amenities.
This property was perfect for our guys weekend and we had a great time. Unique interior architecture, stunning views, private setting, and house was well stocked for large groups for cooking and sleeping. Main living room was very cozy and the wood fireplace was a huge bonus. Close to Coos Bay, Oregon Dunes, and Tenmile Lake. Wrap around deck with several large benches were perfect for group dining with amazing views. Would absolutely stay again. Good communication by the hosts for anything we needed.
We were fortunate enough to be here on a beautiful weekend with blue skies and comfortable warm weather in late September. The home has beautiful large-window views of the forest, lakes, dunes and distant ocean. The home is secluded so you don’t have to worry about bothering the neighbors or being quiet at a certain time. The home had lots of nice touches, the beds were comfortable, and everything worked well. There was plenty of parking for the five vehicles. We were there with a group of 9 people
Todd and Greta were great hosts, the house was just as listed. We loved the location without any neighbors extremely close to be bothered by our kids. Would recommend this house for all functions. Lots of parking for trailers down the hill before the house in the field. Not a lot of room up at the house to turn a trailer around, plan on disconnecting your trailer in the field below the house to make it easier if you have more than one trailer in your group. We had 3 20’ plus long trailers and did not know what the parking was at the house.

Although a great location, private, and quirky 70’s house …
* When we walked in the strong musty smell was hard to ignore. Immediately opened all of the windows. The laundry room smelled of mildew. Left windows open most of the time, musty smell not as strong.
* Deck was awesome, but in need of maintenance/repair. Several boards were rotten. Moved benches over those areas to prevent walking on. Paint chipped and peeling.
* Threshold from dining room to kitchen was split, broken and loose. Covered with rug to prevent tripping.
* Lower windows in dining rm smeared with child handprints, looked like they had played in syrup.
* Cobwebs in many of the windows.
* There was rodent poison in the top drawer of desk in one of the bedrooms. Downstairs bedroom smelled particularly bad, like something dead.
* Shower curtain in one bathroom looked like someone got into a fight with it, was all twisted up and hanging off several of the hooks.
* No blender as advertised. Called contact number as instructed, left message asking for assistance to locate blender. Did not receive a call back.
The living room area had great seating, nice library, and fabulous view. Kitchen was large, plenty of room for gathering and cooking. Loved the double sinks and bank of windows.
We are a wonderful time at Dunecastle! Our host was very responsive with any questions we had. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the supplies you would need. Beds were comfortable. The pool table was a huge hit! There was lots of room for our whole family. We loved how private the house was and the views were fabulous! We will definitely be back!

Most amazing property with a perfect location
We did a girls weekend at the property and even scheduled a photoshoot. The views are beautiful! The house fit everyone comfortably and we all had so much fun. So many fun activities nearby and the weather was perfect. No complaints. 10/10
Coastline lodging is always so responsive and helpful! We loved that we got to rent through them and can't wait to stay at another one of their properties

Liked: Check-in, communication
Disliked: Cleanliness
Beautiful views, not very clean
The house had cob webs in every corner, very out-dated, smelled of mold. Most windows didn’t have screens, screen doors were broken or ripped.
Other than that, the property manager was very kind and communicative. I just think the house needs a good deep clean and a little updating/renovation.
We come up every year to stay in the area. Usually we do a motel in Reedsport. This time we decided to get a house for logistical purposes. Dune Castle exceeded our expectations with its size and location gorgeously perched atop Beale Lake with views to the Pacific. We found the house great for adults and children. Perfect for cooking breakfast, bbq or reading on the loft enjoying the volume of the space and epic sunsets. Location was great medt to Steve’s ATVs which the kids loved and close by to Hilltop House and Clausen Oysters. The laundry room was excellent. The wrap around deck was another cool feature enabling guests to pop out for fresh air and view no matter where you are in the house. Thanks for having us. We would certainly stay again.
The home was as described. Very large and spread out. You don’t feel like you are on top of each other. She has been well loved over the years and we found her quirky and mysterious. So, not everything is in pristine shape but she was fully stocked. If you like an aged wine and appreciate good bones with breathtaking views, then look no further.
Only down side was we had an unexpected visitor but we’re able to scoot him out the door. Only after he scared the life out of us for knocking over the fire wood and farting towards us.
We had plenty of space for our family of 8. We had family members that live in the area come out to visit and the house was accommodating for that. The view is spectacular and the house is totally private from any neighbors! I would stay here again!
We enjoyed ocean views from the large windows, sitting by the fireplace every evening, playing pool in the game room, and having ample room in the large kitchen.
Coming from a large family of 8 siblings, we gather together annually to tell stories, offer different perspectives of our formative years and just to catch up with the passing of time.
This property also allowed the joining in by a sister who lives in Coos Bay.
Excellent facility, well presented, clean and very welcoming for what we experienced.
Good times.
