"We found the staff very helpful, professional and friendly. We called the day before our stay to ask about parking on site. We were told that it could only be secured when we checked in but that we could come early and if our room was ready we could check in early. We knew the hotel could be busy so were grateful for the tip. The room was very inviting. This is an old building which has been renovated and while there were plenty of updates (lots of electrical outlets, air conditioning, charging stations) the decor reflected the style of the original building. So much better than trying to put a hyper modern look into a vintage setting. It reminded us of many family owned hotels in Europe. The lobby was lovely as well as was the attached restaurant and bar. Staff was amazing. The reception staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful. The bar and restaurant staff were slammed with people pouring in but they worked so well and efficiently together while maintaining the same friendly regard towards customers, we felt it necessary to compliment them. if we had a complaint it was that the bar closed at 10 which was before we would return. No problem! Take a nightcap back to our room now and put it in the refrigerator "for later"! And we got a discount on our food and beverage bill. The place is clean, comfortable, visually appealing and walk-able to everyplace we needed to go. We highly recommend staying there while in Berkeley."

"Hannah and the concierge were amazing. I told them about the special occasion I was there for - a Bob Dylan concert to celebrate my mom and dad’s 50th anniversary (and his passing a few months ago). They gave us a beautiful note and a bottle of Chandon. What a class act. It meant so much to feel heard and gave that special touch. Their food and drinks were also delicious. We had a gem salad with rotisserie chicken and lime drops (light on the simple syrup). For breakfast we split the bagel. Only a catch there, but they gave us crème freche instead of cream cheese and pickled onions instead of regular red onions. Note to room service: regular cream cheese goes on a bagel not crème freche and pickled onions go on tacos, not bagels. It’s a thing ;) Otherwise, stellar time and will be back. I loved how quiet the property was and the beds were super comfortable and fluffy, but not too soft. Thank you for a wonderful memory!!"

"The rooms were nothing real fancy but they were clean and had coffee in the room. It was a great location for us as we were boarding the Amtrack in the morning. You go through their parking lot and cross over a walking bridge to get to the station. They have a great food court just down the road fro the hotel and a Trader Joe's 6 minute walk away. The breakfast buffet was quite nice. It had cereal, yogurt, fruit, scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage patties, pancakes, english muffins, bagels and toast. I highly recommend especially if you need a hotel before or after an Amtrak ride."

"Breakfast ends at 11. Showed up right at 11 other still eating breafast and they refused to serve breakfast and would only off lunch. In room breakfast menu went to 1:30 so we were surprised"

"The common space at this hotel is lovely and the vibe is nice. The room was a fine size, but the bed was one of the least comfortable beds we've slept in at a hotel. For a hotel of this level, that was a big disappointment. We had an unfortunate incident at the restaurant where a dish that was marked gluten free actually contained gluten, which was a big problem for my husband, who has a gluten allergy. The hotel did a good job of trying to make it right once they realized the mistake, but you can't really take something like that back. I hope they learned from the incident, and travelers with food allergies should take extra care to avoid the situation we had. That said, the breakfasts we had there were otherwise very good and service was quick and friendly."
