"The hotel itself was ok, apart from the things we had specifically asked for, were not provided. We had asked for a room with shower only, and yet we were given one with a shower over a bath, which led to us not using it. We also asked for a room with relatively easy access to, due to mobility issues, however we were given a room, which to get to, involved lots of walking up and down flights of stairs, after using the lift. Other than the stated items, the only problem we had was the poor quality of the bed, which led to limited sleep."

"Great location but parking can be a problem. A lot of dogs, to the extent that dog owners have a separate bar and restaurant. Do book in the other restaurant in advance to be sure of getting a table when you want it. It’s the best place to eat in town and the staff are lovely. Getting a drink in the bar after dinner proved too difficult."

"Room not the best we've stayed in, no shelf in bathroom for our toiletries, towel rail fell off, wardrobe door wouldn't close. Decor throughout needs updating ( in all fairness the hotel has just been taken over) and renovations are on going. Breakfast fairly hot ( buffet style) didn't have a dinner so can't comment."

"The breakfast was delicious! The room was very nice too (Executive King). The grass needed mowing and cuttings/ weeds sweeping away - it would have the exterior look more attractive. Signage for the parking and overflow parking could have been clearer - it was difficult it was difficult in the dark. "

"Review for The Wild Pheasant Hotel & Spa – Saturday 6th May 2026 We had a wonderful stay at the Wild Pheasant Hotel & Spa on Saturday 6th May and I can’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, the standard of cleanliness really stood out. Our room was spotless, and the same high standard continued throughout the entire hotel – everything felt fresh, well-maintained, and beautifully presented. The breakfast was absolutely AMAZING! The selection was excellent, everything was cooked to perfection, and the quality of the ingredients really shone through. It was one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve had in a long time. However, what really made our stay special was Mel on reception. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and looked after. Mel is the friendliest, most helpful person you could hope to meet – she was genuinely lovely to chat with and gave us brilliant recommendations of places to visit in the area. Her warmth and professionalism made a big difference to our experience. She is a real credit to the hotel and the whole team. We left feeling relaxed, well-rested, and very well looked after. "Lovely room (206) on the ground floor with sliding patio door to access the peaceful courtyard (water, fountains, small trees) and chairs to sit on your own small ‘patio’. Spacious room, great en suite. Food excellent (Catch of the Day fish and chips - hake in our case - better than Rick Stein’s Takeaway version in Padstow) Hotel in a lovely setting. Great sunsets. Spa, pool and changing room (Ladies’ - didn’t see Men’s side) spotlessly clean. Friendly, cheerful staff happy to help and can’t do enough for you. "

"Disappointed that I was not notified that they had a wedding at the hotel as this affect my stay, no food being served at night and the poor staff was extremely busy, I had to go somewhere else to get a drink. "
