Farthing Cottage | East Ruston Cottages

This modern, comfortable and very dog friendly cottage is in the friendly and quiet village of Trunch, between the coast and the Norfolk Broads.  A lot of thought has gone into the interior and the comfort it offers dogs and their owners!  There are many thoughtful touches and the welcome pack is exceptional for dogs and humans!

Easy, open plan living space, underfloor heating and textured slate floor make it easy for dogs.
The surrounding countryside provides plenty of easy walking - just start your walk at the end of the road
Lots to see and visit in the area - head up the coast to Cromer and Sheringham or the Norfolk Broads for a dog friendly day boat hire.
Plenty of choices for places to eat in the area - all dog friendly.
The owners are real dog lovers and are happy for any number of dogs to holiday here - for free!

The front door leads straight into the hallway with hanging space and a small bookcase.  There is a fixed gate at  the bottom of the stairs. The hallway has a textured slate floor with underfloor heating.  Just inside the door is the downstairs toilet/cloakroom.

Open plan living room with dining area
There is slate flooring throughout with underfloor heating.  Two comfy leather sofas, flat screen tv with Freeview and DVD player. Enjoy the small and efficient woodburning stove to cosy up to on those winter evenings and a wooden dining table that easily seats 4.

Kitchen
Open plan kitchen just off the dining area, fully fitted with electric oven, gas hob, large fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, condenser dryer and plenty of well planned cupboard space. From here there are French doors opening out onto the garden.  These have dog pawprint motifs on to avoid any accidents. Stairs lead from the hallway up to.....

Bedroom 1
Twin beds with pocket sprung mattresses with views over the back garden. Flat screen TV with built in DVD player. Wardrobe storage space, side tables and lamps.

Bedroom 2
King bed with pocket sprung mattress, wardrobe and chest of drawers, side tables and lamps. TV with built in DVD player also. View out over the front of house into quiet lane.

Bathroom
Modern with shower over bath and fixed shower screen, bath/shower handrail,  heated towel rail, toilet and sink.

Garage
Dog crates are stored in here for guest use if you need them as well as wipe clean dog beds.  There is an additional fridge and freezer which are switched off but there for guest use - useful if you feed raw.  Barbecue is in here too with a bucket of sand (hopefully you won't need it!)  The grooming kit is stored in here too for your use.

There is a range of items useful for any holiday such as cool box, picnic basket and blankets, fold up camp chairs and a couple of sun loungers.

We have stayed at Farthing Cottage before, which is why we returned. It is a charming and thoughtfully equpped cottage in a pleasant village with an excellent pub and well situated for walks on the coast.

Very nice property in a quiet village with dog friendly pub. Property has everything you need, including a large selection of dog crates. Property is clean and tidy with clean furniture. Garden offers a grassed area for the dogs and a large patio area fir the owners. Loads of beaches just a small drive away all accepting dogs. Highly recommend the craft bakery in Mundsley, beautiful bread and cream cakes.

We loved our stay- with three spaniels it is difficult to find a truly dog friendly place to stay where the dogs are as happy as the humans! Great walks, near the beach and everything you and your pooches need. Host was very accommodating by letting us in early

Farthing cottage is in the quiet village of Trunch. The property wasn’t as clean as I would have expected from stays at previous ERC properties but on contacting the company this was quickly resolved. The property was very warm and comfortable and the perfect place for our week long stay. There was everything you could possibly need for you and equipment for your dogs stored in the attached garage, beds bowls, crates, buggies, ramps etc. There were loads of fabulous walks straight from the door and into the adjoining fields and countryside. It is ideally located for visiting the beach and numerous National Trust properties. Highly recommended

We had a pleasant weekend break in Farthing Cottage over the first weekend in November, hoping for a rest from the constant fireworks that are a feature of our home life at this time of year. The cottage was lovely and warm - our foster greyhound was comfortable without his pajamas. The beds were comfortable and we enjoyed some pleasant walks around the area. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment and the welcome hamper was amazing. All in all, I would highly recommend the cottage to dog owners.

We had a lovely week in Trunch which is a good base to explore the surrounding area. It’s somewhere we will be revisiting. Farthing cottage was comfortable and met the majority of our needs for our stay. If we had one criticism, the garden needed a bit of attention.

We were delighted to find everything as described with far more dog equipment than we would need. Our greyhound loved the garden which, although small, allowed him to have a run around. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen provided all we needed for self catering, although we ate out mostly. The hamper of food for us and our dog was generous and very welcome. The cottage is in a lovely position in Trunch and we easily found good walks nearby. I haven’t a bad thing to say about the accommodation and would happily stay there again.

We had a lovely stay at Farthing cottage with our two dogs. Amazing welcome pack on arrival and the garage has so many dog towels, throws, bowls, crates etc all you could ask for. Brilliant location quick drive to Mundesley Beach and a short walk to the local pub. The house was clean and comfy. Gorgeous log burner too! Highly recommend.

Cottage very clean. Fab welcome pack. They thought of nearly everything. Only thing lacking is a poo bin for doggie doo. Perhaps locate one in garden and then guests could empty on last day of their stay. Would definitely recommend and return.

Cottage is fantastic, welcome pack was a very appreciated and generous touch. Everything a dog needs is on hand. Beds are amazingly comfy. The only drawback is that the info needs updating as the local pub is closing and was only open for one night of our stay and the advertised village shop has closed.. There is nothing else in walking distance.

The cottage is beautiful. The circular walks from there are amazing and the folder documenting the walks was so helpful. Local pub was great as was the farm shop and butchers. Caroline the owner was so lovely, answering any questions we had. Very happy dogs and people

It's all about the dogs for us so we were thrilled to have everything we ended and more from the second we walked through the door at Farthing Cottage. The garden is fabulous for any dog - the closeboard fencing means there's nothing getting in or out which means a very relaxing experience for all of us! The facilities are great - the large washer and dryer is a huge bonus for cleaning up after lengthy beach walks!

Our second stay here, and just as good as ever! Everything you could possibly want for a holiday with your dogs, with walks from the door, a short hop to the dog friendly pub, and the most amazing beaches within a very short drive. Caroline has everything set up so well, and the welcome hamper is one of the best we’ve ever had (for us AND the dogs!). I’m sure we’ll be back soon, it’s just a question of when.

Our third stay at Farthing Cottage in Trunch with our two Leonbergers and the added delights of Storm Ciaran. Despite the wet and windy weather we had an excellent week - beaches were largely deserted and the waves spectacular. Cottage excellent as always.

Very well equiped cottage and the best welcome pack that we have experienced over the years, filled with quality local products and a bottle of prosecco as we were celebrating a birthday. Dog friendly is probably an understatement more like a shop, can't think of anything that was not provided for there comfort. The car charger is a welcome asset and I am sure will attract more people.
