Relaxing stay in Nungwi

We had a very relaxing 6 nights at the Double A. The hotel is not the fanciest place in Nungwi, and could do with a little bit of a facelift, but the rooms we’re comfortable and very clean, and the staff were exceptional. We would definitely visit again.

Overall the staff was very nice. The property is nice. There’s only a few rooms that actually have a beach view due to the very narrow piece of beach in front of the hotel.

Great location on the beach with shops and restaurants in walking distance. Staff is friendly making our stay memorable. One issue was corrected immediately. We were able to take their awesome boat for a snorkeling tour. Recommend.

We stayed a single night in this property at the end of an organised trip. It was so convenient, right next to the beautiful beach. Staff were very helpful. We each had a wonderful massage, and the breakfast was very good. Would definitely recommend to travellers on a budget.

I loved it! If you would like to see the high and low tide phenomenon, this is the place. Close to other venues, accessible. Loved my room overlooking the garden. Great visit!

It’s old , and generally low maintenance, pool is terrific and dirty. Breakfast ok, beach outside hotel is good, but much better 200 m further away. Not sure how you can defend 300 usd a day 😂👀 I do not recommend this hotel , only if your rate is a 100 usd a night

We had an 8 night stay at this lovely resort. Our rooms were on the beach and beside the pool. The rooms were fab and were cleaned every day. The food was good. All excellent. However, the main selling point of this hotel is the staff. We had wonderful friendly waiters - Emanuel, Mohammed, Erik, Abdul and Said - who provided excellent service. We would highly recommend Double A.

Beautiful, peaceful visit!

What a great choice! Absolutely beautiful setting right on the beach. Treated too well throughout our stay, lol. The staff are lovely folks who were such a pleasure! Super accommodating...spent my birthday here and they made it super special, even baking me a delicious cake! The bed was a bit too firm for me but, I find that to be the case in most other countries. The owners also need to tweak their soup/salad/starter prices, as it's overpriced compared to other places along the beach, depriving the staff of the tips they deserve. Amazing place! Highly recommend!!

terrible accomodation and no interest in issues

Actual Nightmare ... they charged the same as a 4 star hotel but this is really like a trailer park, aircon took 8 hours to cool the room and didnt work for most of the time, rooms are next to a generator which is very noisy, terrible smell from bathrooms like sewage, cheap mosquito net and bad lights ...good location on the beach but accomodation horrible and restaurant and breakfast v sad

Ein kleines, aber feines Hotel in bester Strandlage mit gepflegter Grünanlage. Exquisite Küche (immer frisch zubereitet), reichhaltiges Frühstücksbuffet, saubere, großzügige Zimmer. Außergewöhnlich freundliches, engagiertes und umsichtiges Team (im Hintergrund und bei Bedarf sofort zur Stelle), in jedem Bereich, vom Poolboy bis zum Hotelbesitzer. Offenes Restaurant und Barbereich mit sensationellem Ausblick über den Indischen Ozean auf den Sonnenuntergang. Ohne Einschränkung zu empfehlen.

This is not a 4 star hotel, but great staff.

The hotel is in desperate need of renovation and update. The rooms and furniture is really like a 2 star. The hotel is not value for money. The staff is really nice, friendly and helpful. The breakfast and the views from the restaurant is nice.

This place is fine. The beach is beautiful and the owner is accommodating. However, the rooms had an unusual smell that didn’t go away. The restaurant had a wide variety of food but none of the things we tried were great. Just passable. The pool was well kept and the security guards were great at keeping the solicitors away (there were constantly people approaching us on the beach but the guards kept them away on property). It was very difficult to get to the hotel but they do offer a shuttle from the airport that is a better price than the taxis.

Double charged my room - be warned

Customer service is TERRIBLE. They charged me double for 1 of the rooms. I saw it the day after we left. They admitted the mistake (e-mail from the General Manager), yet has failed to transfer USD 1500 back to me. It has been 2 weeks since they admitted it and promised to rectify it, but they have now ghosted me for 9 days. According to Hotels.com, they have also ghosted them. I have now had to take the issue with Mastercard. Travellers must also be aware that Hotels.com is not willing to put pressure on hotels when such issues arise. Hotels.com say it is due to us paying directly to the hotel. I do not understand why they will continue to market and sell rooms for a hotel that double charges their customers without it having any consequences for the hotel, so this is something to be aware of. They stay itself was fine: somewhat overpriced. Std. comparable to a 3 star hotel, not "luxurious" as the intro states. Area around pool needs a pressure wash. They tidied the beach in front of the hotel once a week, maybe. Other hotels tidied every day. Breakfast was ok. Location: quiet part of the beach. Restaurant and bar upstairs: very good, but pole pole. Room cleaning: great. Guard and towel service: great. All overshadowed by the fact that they have not returned my money. I understand that mistakes happen, I do not understand why they do not fix it promptly. They have now answered and say that they have ghosted me "because the bank has so many questions". Please be warned!

Koselig hotell med god og vennlig service. Perfekt beliggenhet ved strandet. Rommet hadde alt vi trengte og behagelig seng. Restauranten er ikke Nungwis beste, men det finnes så mange andre in nærheten at det ikke var et problem. Anbefales!
