Casas Lupita

  • Casa Lupita offers the experience of staying in a home in the heart of Oaxaca. It is a 19th-century house that was renovated and restored in 2020, preserving its original details. The house features: stone, brick, wood, and clay tiles, combined with handicrafts and textiles that showcase Oaxacan culture, all within a comfortable and clean environment that guarantees you a unique and unforgettable stay.


    Casa Lupita is located less than 5 minutes from Oaxaca’s most important churches, restaurants, and museums. As you stroll through the streets, you’ll come across the San Pablo Convent, the Zócalo, and the Cathedral; the Santo Domingo Church; the 20 de Noviembre Market and its famous “smoke corridor”; and the Oaxaca Textile Museum. Everything was good, the only thing is that I feel like we didn’t have privacy. The host keep coming and going while we were there.

Pepe was great! He provided extra services like picking us up at the airport, taking us to local attractions at a reasonable price compared to other services available.

Good family place

Property and location are good. All personnel - manager, cleaning staff and adjacent connected coffee house - are great. The only drawback is noisy bar on the corner nearby.

Everyone was super nice, helpful and supportive. The house was clean, it had minor quirks but charming. However, I did not like that there were at least 2 cameras inside house. One camera was pointing towards the main courtyard where all bedrooms connect. And the other camera was upstairs and it looked like it was pointing toward one of the windows of the bedroom. We closed the blinds but I still didn’t like that cameras were inside the house. It did make us feel uncomfortable. Besides the cameras, everything was great!

Oaxacan Adventure

We thorougly enjoyed our stay at Casa Lupita. Pepe, the property manager was on site and available to answer our many questions. There is a small cafe connected to the property where excellent coffee was available and pastries.The location was one of the best parts of the property. We walked everywhere.

Magical 5 days in Oaxaca

GREAT location. About 20 min from airport and maybe 10 minute walk to Zocalo and to Benito Juarez and 20 November markets. Sleeping rooms were very comfortable and clean. We were a family of 7 with 4 women and 3 guys. The bathrooms were fine with individual showers and toilets. Enjoyed the inside courtyard in the evenings and the 2nd floor terrace in the mornings. Enjoyed the dining room a couple of evenings when too tired and did carry out from restaurants close by. LOVED the adjacent coffee shop, Cape Lupita, for various coffees and pastries, and the barrista became our friend. Great location for exploring downtown Oaxaca. Sad to leave :(

Wondferful place

Wonderful stay

I recently stayed at Casa Lupita with my family. The place is beautiful with lots of space and is tastefully decorated. Lots of detail has gone into making the house comfortable to stay in, while making it a visual banquet. The colors and the handcrafts give you a taste of the beauty of Oaxaca. The kitchen is well equipped and you can enjoy meals in its gorgeous indoor dining room or in the patio. The terrace is a lovely plus, in a city with lots of quaint terraces, you can actually enjoy one of your own! I can also see those Instagram lovers going crazy here…. The location is quite convenient, close to the traditional 20 de Noviembre market which has an abundance of the best of what Oaxaca has to offer both in terms of local produce, handcrafts or prepared and affordable local food and meals. The house has an on site coffee shop from which you can enjoy a morning coffee or traditional Oaxacan hot chocolate. The main square (Zocalo) is a 5-7 minute walk and the Santo Domingo area surrounded by the bustle of shops, restaurants and bars is a 10-15 minute walk from the house, so the location is super convenient. Nahum was also excellent as a host, always prompt in replying and made the check in and check out process easy to deal with. Only thing to consider depending on what your group composition is like is that the bathrooms are all shared for the rooms located in the lower floor. I.e. there are three WC and three shower stalls in one single space for women and the same layout for men. It was not an issue for us at all, but just keep in mind! Would love to come back again!

The house is pretty but not very practical. The bathrooms outside are very uncomfortable, cold with no constant hot water. The sink was clogged. The staff were lovely and very helpful.

Spacious, stylish place, centrally located

The photos don't reveal how huge and beautiful this place is! It has a lot of space and we could have fit many more than our 4 guests. It is very clean and close to many of the activities we wanted to do in Oaxaca City. The price was reasonable and the host was responsive and helpful. Overall, a great experience. Sometimes his family stays in their private apartment but that was not a problem at all.
