About this property

The Charter House formally known as The Charter Room. A 3 bedroom house for rent

  • Cozy three bedroom house. This use to be an apartment attached to our family home in Ocracoke, but we have moved out and opened the entire house. The part designed as a mother-in-law suite has a queen size bed and a roll out single cot. Cable TV 32 inch flat screen and wireless internet in the master suite, a full bathroom with a large outdoor shower. You even have your own deck. The main part of the house is accessible through the laundry room and has an open floor plan and two bedrooms and a bathroom. Pets are allowed for an additional $50.

    If you want to do early check in there is an additional $45 fee. It is extra added stress for our cleaners to have everything ready for those that get here on an early ferry. Normal check in time is 3:30pm and check out time is 11:00am. If you want to check out late it is a $100 fee.

    We do NOT post on Craigslist, so if you see it there, it is not us.

    We do not offer refunds for weather related cancellations, ferry issues, or illness. We highly recommend that you purchase optional travel insurance.

Awesome Island Hideaway

Charter Room Cornelius Stay

Charter Room was adequately spacious for two people. The shower stall was very nice. There was plenty of silverware and dinnerware in the kitchen. We really liked the back deck for hanging wet clothes and rinsing. We really enjoyed the stay!

Fantastic location and stay

Ellen and Russ met us when we arrived and made sure we could access the rental. And we were warmly greeted by their dog, noodles. Ellen made us feel like long lost neighbors that were reunited. It made for a wonderful weekend. The rental has alit of charm and comfort.

Nice little beach cottage

This property had almost everything you need. We were traveling from Oregon so we’re a little unhappy we had to buy sheets, towels just for a two night stay. This has always been provided in any short term rental we have booked, it should be required. Great location and parking. Very close to everything.

Quick Getaway

We booked this property for a quick trip and had a great time. The property is easy to access and has an outdoor shower that was perfect for us coming off the beach. The property managers were very helpful. We saved money renting a golf cart on-site and used a ratchet strap from our truck to secure our car seat for our three-year old. We’d recommend this property and would stay here again.

Quaint & Cozy

We love Ocracoke, been on and off for many years! The Charter Room had all the amenities we needed. Golf cart rental through the place was also an easy process, and we enjoyed the usage. On a quiet street just off the main area of the village. Close to everything. The rooms were very neat and the cleanliness was outstanding. Thanks for having us!

The place was cute, the neighbors were friendly, and the island was perfect. We needed to get toilet paper because there was none left when we arrived and the rooms did smell like mildew at first.

Great Stay

The room is great. Its just enough for my husband and myself. We enjoy it so much that we make sure to schedule our next trip earlier than normal. The Grants are the best!! You'll never find anyone like them. I make a point to clean the house before we leave as i know how busy they are. We have always been very considerate.

Perfect weekend crash pad

Stayed at the Charter Room this past weekend. Room was private, clean, and simple — which was all we needed. Communication before our stay was prompt and professional. Location was perfect, check-in was a breeze, golf cart was ready to go when we got there, and our hosts were so sweet! Enjoyed chatting with them from our respective porches while their dog, Noodles, joined us on ours for happy hour.
