The pub down stairs is well stocked and a nice environment to be in. Jane was amazing and very generous on our arrival to take our bags in early so we could make the most of our time in York. "The hotel is well located. I stayed in the annexe room at the rear of the building accessed through a small yard at the back. Recently decorated the room was clean, warm and surprisingly quiet. Bed was very comfortable, and a very spacious bathroom with nice thick towels. My only criticism would be that there is a strong smell of new carpet in the bedroom "

"Pascal greeted us warmly and made us feel welcome from the first point of contact. The drink, canapé and cookies were much appreciated after a long journey. Breakfast was fantastic and prepared beautifully using quality ingredients and the room was very comfortable. Several dining options are within walking distance to suit all budgets and the car park behind the property is very convenient . Pascal was full of local knowledge and tips and we would certainly stay here again if in the area ."

"This was my second stay at this hotel. I came back because I really liked it the first time, although it has changed hands since then. On arrival, our rooms were ready. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our baggage was safely left in the luggage room on the day of our departure, which made it so much easier on our last day. It was even brought to our table when we decided on a last-minute drink in the bar before heading to the station. If I had any gripe at all, it was in-room information. But this seems to be the same in most hotels these days. I miss having a menu, opening times, local sights etc in a booklet or folder. So convenient for the train station. Be aware that there is a door right next to the station. The first time I went, I walked all the way around the building to the front entrance! Would definitely stay here again."

"Great hotel, so close to the station. Realy lovely, friendly staff - nothiung seemed too much trouble The breakfast choice was one fo the best we have had in a hotel in a long time - fab to see things like bircher museli on te menu. The staff work incredibly hard, ansd it was much appreciated by us. Hope to return once your spa has been refurbished"
