Quiet place great view nice family. Birds to watch. Great location.
We enjoyed the quaintness and the peace and quiet. We had everything we needed in this cute place. We mainly just slept at night but we did get out and explore the beachfront and watched the osprey nesting in our view. Perfect spot to escape to.
The place is absolutely magical, both the surrounding area and the studio itself. Studio was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. We will be back!
The cottage was a gorgeous place to wake up in and to watch the sun set in the evening. It was comfortably furnished and nice and cool, due to the A/C during the heatwave that was happening. We went to the beach at least once a day and had it largely to ourselves.
It is relatively easy to walk a kayak to the beach and put in and wonderful to explore the islands that appear at low tide. The abundance of ospreys were fascinating to watch and to listen to in their natural setting.
We chose to eat most of our meals at the cottage and went to Big Y a few times which was easy to get to and maybe 10 minutes away. We loved Hallmark ice cream and stopped just about every day.
Outside there were Adirondack chairs which were perfect in the morning and we had a grill that was used regularly.
Thank you to Margaret for booking info, to Helen for getting us settled, to Matt and to Ken for being ready to help at any time with laundry detergent or an extension cord, as well as local information, and to Jennifer their mother who was welcoming and accommodating. We loved our time at the cottage and hope to return.
Two things that would be helpful: another piece of furniture that could be used for storage and a spigot on the cottage so as not to track sand in although having a vacuum available was great.
Thank you!
Marjorie and Denis
The studio cottage was charming, quiet and a stone’s throw to the calm waters of the Sound showcasing remarkable views, including the Old Saybrook Light and Finwick Light too.
I am CT artist (oil painter) ,member of Lyme Art Association and always looking for a place for inspiration. This place is amazing: very quiet, beautiful vistas and has many wild creatures.
Thank you for Hillhouse family.
