Nice hotel, clean, well looked after.
Room was spacious with plenty of nice details and a comfortable bed.
Friendly and helpful staff, good dinner in the evening in the restaurant. Sausages on my breakfast in the morning were cold but it was otherwise nice.
However, I booked this as a weekend away on my own (without the kids) since going through a bereavement and was looking for some peace and quiet.
There was live music below my room from 7:30pm until 11pm. It was literally making the floor vibrate.
I went down and asked for earplugs and was told ‘no sorry, but don’t worry it won’t go on past 11pm’.
I nearly drove home, but it was a long way.
I realise it’s a pub, so I expected there would be some background noise, but it doesn’t say anywhere on the listing that they have live music at weekends and I would not have booked it if I had known.
The Tesco opposite and the one stop up the road don’t sell earplugs either.
Finally managed to doze off at about 1:30am after all the banging, noise from neighbours and noise from the pub stopped, then was woken up at 6am to the sound of more banging and someone hoovering. It’s also very loud when neighbouring rooms flush the toilets.
So if you’re after a party night in a nice hotel with good food then go for it, if you want some peace, don’t.. not at the weekend anyway. It’s a noisy hotel and I left more stressed than I got there ..
