Base of Squaw Valley, Walk to Lifts & Village, Great Amenities
The Olympic Village Inn condominiums are nestled at the base of Squaw Valley ski area, a short walk or a two minute shuttle to ski lifts or the new Village. Enjoy any of five hot tubs or swim in the large heated pool. Unit amenities include eiderdown comforters, kitchenette with modern appliances and cookware, thick terry cloth robes, tub with a massage shower, high-speed internet access, two TVs, DVD player, and a complete entertainment center. This charming complex was originally built for the 1960 Olympics and then renovated as condominiums. It is very close to the ski lifts, yet slightly secluded and peaceful. The complex has a fantastic knowledgeable staff that provides activities for both kids and adults. For those that would prefer not walk 200 yards to the lifts, there is a continuous shuttle. Our unit is small, but charming and functional (see diagram). Skis and snowboards may be conveniently checked at the front entrance.
Squaw Valley USA has 32 ski lifts, reaching six peaks that provide terrain choices for skiers of all experience levels. Ice-skating and cross-country skiing are also available.

The place was very clean and seemed to be recently renovated. Daniel was super helpful and communicative throughout the stay. Could not be closer to the village and lifts, would stay again in a heartbeat!!

Clean, warm, convenient, with everything we needed.
This place was great. The heat was very warm, which was great as it was very cold outside. The shuttle to skiing was super convenient.
The unit itself was very nice. It was clean. Had all the utensils we needed. Everything worked well.
I highly recommend it.

Cozy place with great, close location to the slopes
The unit is clean and comfortable. The kitchenette includes 2 burners for simple meals, a small refrigerator, microwave, pots and pans, cooking utensils, corkscrew, etc. My husband and I had our 9 year old daughter with us who slept on the sofa. Perfect for a couple, single person, or small family. There is a ski closet right outside the door to keep skis in and a convenient shuttle to Squaw that takes just a few minutes drive to get there. (We never had to wait for the shuttle...it was always there when we got there....It runs a loop and I think is available every 10-15 minutes.) Our daughter enjoyed the heated pool and we liked the 4 hot tubs. We also swam in the pool and it was a comfortable temp. 2 hot tubs are very close to the unit, maybe 20 feet away. The pool and 2 other hot tubs are a short walk near the lobby. I think the shuttle runs to Squaw til 5:30 so if you wanted to shuttle to the Squaw Village for dinner you could and walk back. We didn't try it though as we ended up wanting to eat in, but we considered doing so and saw others doing so from the complex. The walk seems well lit, but a flashlight might be handy. There is light cleaning service daily (like a hotel) with fresh towels, tidy up of the rooms, etc. There is a door separating the bedroom and the bathroom hallway and a door separating the bedroom from the front room, if that privacy is important to you. I met another mom in the complex who mentioned when she has stayed at a similiar complex nearby (not OVI), that there was a similar layout but the bedroom and front room did not separate with a door (so not as private). But this unit and those at OVI, do have doors. We enjoyed our stay very much and would stay there again.

Great value if you want to ski Squaw
We have rented this property from this owner twice and have also stayed in the same complex a couple other times. We love it. Its the perfect place for a small family (max 2 kids) if you are keen on skiing Squaw. Everyone can be on different schedules since its close to lifts (I walk but the kids always wait for the shuttle which goes back and forth every 5-10 minutes). The unit is very small for a 1 bedroom and not luxurious but is very comfortable and functional, and offers good privacy for the bedroom. Pool and hot tubs are great, and they have decent game room and small gym (though something was wrong with the pool heater this last trip) . Folks who work there are very on it and friendly.
Of course key factors for us are we would prefer a small place next to the mountain rather than a larger place a drive away, and we are always trying to save money. The price is key as the Squaw Valley Lodge which is right next to the lifts is nicer - better rooms, pool, gym etc. - but its just too expensive for us. Maybe its rationalizing but we have also become attached to the friendly folks and funky charm at OVI. Some parts of the place could use a face lift (warn carpet in the outdoor hallways) but generally its well maintained, and for us the place just works.
