"We loved The Ascend, very close to the train station and downtown. The staff was great, shout out to Kumon who was of great help recovering my daughter’s lost backpack. Absolutely recommend it… best stay in Japan! "

"Felt like I was staying at a Spa. Very peaceful quiet inside hotel even though front hotel entrance faces busy street. Very relaxing onsen, sauna & cold plunge. The rooms and onsens were spotless clean too. Will definitely be returning!"

"Excellent location 20 mins walk from train station. Fantastic hotel with an Onsen to relax in. Welcoming and attentive staff. Breakfast was superb. Huge choice with many local delicacies to try. A small problem of limited storage in room, but other than this 5 star rating"

"We really enjoyed our stay in one of the four top floor suites on the top floor with a nice view of the surrounding hills. The room was incredibly spacious by Japanese standards (actually by any!) and we enjoyed making our own breakfasts and the various welcome drinks in our large fridge. Very friendly staff who gave us a good recommendation for a reasonably priced nearby restaurant to enjoy the local Hida beef (ubiquitous on menus though we never saw a cow!)."
