Welcome to your UP adventure headquarters: *Floodwood River Oar’asis*! Our tranquil little artfully curated getaway is the perfect home base for anyone visiting the UP! Our vibes are a blend of outdoorsy inspired northwoods nostalgia balanced with some comforts you’d find at home (picture cozy linens, comfy beds, a rainfall style shower head, the crackle of a campfire under the stars, and a warm cup of coffee/tea). Hosting is so much more to us than just renting out our cabin. We strive to help create a memorable experience for our guests! A bit about our location: perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, we are situated along the banks of the Floodwood River, and we are a few miles from the public beach for Lake Superior access. During peak snow season, bring your sleds and ride (safely) along the shoulder of the highway to the trailhead (3mi)! If conditions are just right, you may even fall asleep to the sound of the waves of the big lake, or stay up late and catch a glimpse of the breathtaking dance of the northern lights! The cabin sits on serene 32 acres of private wooded property so you are welcome to explore, snowshoe (provided for guests in winter) and relax to your hearts content. We are located just a few miles from town, where you’ll find a selection of shops, groceries, gas as well as options for dining out (we reccommend The Squeeze!). We are also approx 20 miles away from Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park including Lake of the Clouds, all levels of hiking trails, waterfalls, beaches, cc and downhill skiing and more! There are plenty of nearby snowmobile, atv and hiking trails/UP adventure hotspots (Bond Falls, Agate Falls, etc. or take the ferry to Isle Royale) within an hour or so radius of the cabin; the possibilities are endless no matter what season you visit! Interior cabin amenities include: the main floor is wheelchair accessible, has a covered porch with spacious entryway, full bath with tile shower, petite yet well equipped kitchen and wet bar as well as a dining and living area. There are two queen beds, one on the main floor and one up in the loft, sleeping a total of 4 people. Upstairs, opposite the sleeping area, you’ll find a desk for creatives and a cozy reading nook. We have internet service for you to work remotely, but also encourage you to disconnect and take time to enjoy a hobby of yours or explore the outdoors! Speaking of outdoor space: Please be respectful our occasional animal visitors, including deer, hummingbirds, river beavers, and more! We have a firepit with chairs as well as a trail down to the river. There is a very large and level gravel area with plenty of room for parking and unloading trailers for those of you who are visiting us to snowmobile or ATV/side by side on the local trails! Amazing Michigan Vacation

This cozy little cabin was the perfect place for our family of 4 to stay. The location was right in between everything we wanted to visit. It had everything we needed and could want in a house. The hosts were amazing.

We thought the property was beautiful. We did not realize it was by the highway a tad noisy. Enjoyed the deer crossing on the property and a short drive to beautiful Lake Superior. Heidi left a special surprise to enjoy and grateful for her communication with us.

BEST VRBO stay ever!!!

Heidi went above and beyond to make out stay feel warm and inviting. She even made us a little treat. The cabin was absolutely perfect for our family of 3. She has literally thought of everything you could possibly need! We were not far from the snowmobile trail, from the front doordoor.

New year at the cabin

We spend a few days in your cabin. Cabin was clean, nice. quiet location, easy to find .We have everythig we need in the kitchen ...able to cook simple meals . Cozy .We had amazing time. Thank you guys.

One of our VRBO favorites!

My husband and I have had numerous great VRBO stays, however, this is going down as one of our favorites. Heidi and Gary are fabulous hosts. The cabin is absolutely perfect. It is filled with everything you might possibly need for a stay away. The cabin was spotless and the grounds well maintained. It was also very easy to get to so many hiking trails and a great little Lake Superior beach. We absolutely recommend this property for your next upper peninsula of Michigan vacation.

Amazing vacation

Heidi has made our stay here unforgettable. The house is beautiful and we had everything we needed. When I texted her about the WIFI password, she showed up 2 minutes later to help. Now that's service :) If I could give our stay more than 5 stats, I would 100%. We will definitely be coming back

Perfect UP getaway

Just returned from a wonderful weekend at Heidi and Gary's cabin. We were driving in during a big snowfall & ultimately had to delay our arrival, but Heidi and Gary had everything prepped for us & were so communicative and accommodating. The cabin itself is very cozy and warm in the winter months, with a perfectly stocked kitchen. Heidi and Gary have sprinkled lovely personal touches throughout the cabin which make the trip a extra delight. Thanks again!

Extreme relaxation

Heidi & Gary are great hosts. The adorable cottage is stocked with everything you need, even if you only brought clothes! Location is great to the Western UP and we even drove down to Manitowish Waters, WI. to visit one of our old favorite establishments, The Little Bohemia Lodge. The Porkies are just down the road, and Ontonagon County has beautiful beaches. The sleeping arrangements are perfect and the beds are super comfy! Heidi was always nearby if we needed anything. These people are wonderful and classic Super Yoopers! Thank you for sharing!

Waterfall and Lighthouse Tour

My wife and I Stayed in the cabin for four nights. Heidi was a great host and the entire process of making arrangements for the use of the cabin was seamless from start to finish. Any questions we had were answered in a very timely manner by Heidi. The cabin was very clean and more then well stocked with everything we needed for our stay. The location of the cabin is perfect for checking out the entire West Shore of the UP. We were able to do easy day trips seeing Lighthouses and hiking to waterfalls from the Porcupine Mountains to the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula. Many beautiful places to see in the area. When visiting the area again we would not hesitate to book this great cabin for another stay.

Amazing Cabin and Hosts!

My boyfriend, sister, brother-in-law, and I stayed at the Oar'Asis the first weekend of October - the communication with the hosts and the cabin were amazing! Anytime that we had any questions the hosts were very prompt with their responses and were super helpful. The hosts even made us delicious muffins and dog treats for my mom's and aunt's poodles (both homemade)! The cabin felt just like home and made our hikes even better knowing that we could come back to such an amazing place to stay :) Our group had so much fun playing with the dart board in the entryway! The cabin was super well furnished and had everything you could want - the hosts provided extra bathroom items in case anybody forgot anything, which is very thoughtful! I was super grateful that they had a desk in the bedroom so that I could get some studying done during the trip too. The property even had a great outdoor fireplace and the hosts provided some firewood too! The cabin and our hosts made the stay so wonderful and we hope to be back next year!

The Perfect Cabin!

Our stay was absolutely perfect. We came for our two year anniversary to the same area we came on our honeymoon. We love to look for rocks especially the yooperlights and this cozy cabin was in the perfect location! We also went to agate beach towards Houghton and Little Girls Point near Ironwood. We saw a few waterfalls not too far of a drive. Heidi left us the most yummy homemade blueberry crepes and real maple syrup. We cooked on the fire in the peaceful well kept yard, and slept in the most comfortable bed!!! I actually want this mattress for my own lol. We didn’t want to leave. So many little touches that just add to the perfection. Loved the visits from the hummingbirds too! They came right up to my face while I had my morning coffee in the porch. You will not be disappointed if you rent this “oarasis” We are definitely returning!!

Overjoyed in Ontonagon!

So very impressed with this charming cottage! Absolutely amazing stay with so much to offer near the shores of Lake Superior. Heidi is a one of a kind hostess with all her creativity and close attention to detail everything you need is available within her immaculate haven! My wife and I were greeted with Blueberry Crepes in the fridge which made the for quite a delicious treat for our first morning before exploring the Upper Keweenaw Peninsula!The beautiful flowerbeds, humming birds, and porch to relax on were simply amazing!Just can't wait to return and spend an entire week next time we visit! Thank you Heidi and Gary!

We loved this cabin stay! The location was right across the street from Lake Superior with easy access to the many pull ins to get to the lake. It was a short and beautiful drive to the Porcupine National Forest, which we visited 3 times during our stay. The cabin was immaculate, with lots of thoughtful things inside that made us feel very welcome. The whole place is really charming, we felt very comfortable. My son really liked the upstairs bedroom. We enjoyed sitting outside watching the humming birds and saw lots of deer and colorful birds. Heidi is a very kind host, she baked us some wonderful bread! She went above and beyond to make our stay fabulous. We enjoyed this trip so much, people in Ontonagon are very nice. We took a road trip to Bayfield and took a ferry to the Apostle islands. We also drove to copper harbor on another day. We were so impressed with the pristine beaches and lake areas that we saw everywhere. I can highly recommend Heidi’s cabin, it makes a great base camp. We just can’t wait to come back!
