First of all, the owner was extremely responsive and easy to communicate with. However, he lives in the UK so there is only so much he can do for you remotely.
When we arrived, one of the smoke detectors was beeping. It took a while to get someone from the management company to come fix this as it was Thanksgiving day.
There were a number of issues and oddities with the property. We paid for pool heat, but the heater was broken. The owner did refund the fee for us after the fact. It was quite disappointing though as this was one of the reasons we chose this property. The jacuzzi would not stay full of water, but I guess it didn't matter since the heat was broken. Additionally there were large tears and holes in the screens around the pool. It was quite unsightly and allowed in bugs and even a bird.
Although the kitchen was stocked with basic pots & pans, silverware, dishes etc, the house did not have basic supplies like garbage bags, tissue, toilet paper, dish soap or any toiletries.
The "5th bedroom" does not have a door. Stairs lead up to more of a loft area/den but there is no door and no bathroom up there. So really I would say this is a 4 bedroom property with an additional space upstairs (there is a bed up there).
The floors were quite filthy. After just a few minutes of our baby crawling around, his knees, hands and feet were black. And I don't mean the place just needs a good vacuum...it needs a deep clean, especially the carpets.
The whole place is in need of TLC...paint for example, blinds that are in disrepair, shower heads covered in grime and mold.
We were told there were baby supplies like a high chair, but this was extremely filthy and sitting in the garage (which doubles as the game room). The pack 'n play was also very dirty. We ended up holding our baby on our lap for every meal.
The previous renters left a lot of garbage in the can outside, leaving no room for us to take our garbage out. Garbage pick-up is only 1x/week.
The owner said it was not the usual cleaning crew for our stay because we arrived on Thanksgiving, but that does not explain all of this nor does it make it "ok". It is not our fault the normal cleaning crew didn't come in so we shouldn't have to suffer the consequences.
The reviews online seemed great, but things are not always as they seem. The guest book sitting out in the house details many of the same issues we had, including the pool heater issue. Renter beware.
