Our adorable cottage is surrounded by beautiful 200 year old pines and sits next to an Indian burial ground. There's plenty of parking and a brick fire pit. There's wood and oil heat, instant hot water, two burner electric stove and convection oven. The cottage is a summer cottage only and can only be rented the months of May through Oct. This cottage is VERY rustic and we want to keep it that way. If rustic is not your thing then please check out our Mom's house which is listed in my profile.
The space
Grandmas cottage is VERY rustic. IF RUSTIC IS NOT WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THEN PLEASE DONT BOOK WITH US. There is internet, TV and local phone for those who’s cell phones don’t work. Cell phones through AT&T work best. The cottage was built in the 1950’s and is built to be a cottage and not a home. It has a tin roof and the bedrooms do not provide 100% privacy. The roof nails are visible upstairs and we will soon make the needed updates to make it more private and so you can't see the nails. This is our Grandma's cottage and we want to keep it as she left it as much as we can because RUSTIC IS WHAT MY GRANDMA LOVED. We have had critters visit so we suggest you keep food in containers or in the refrigerator. There are three bedrooms, a living room, dinning room, kitchen and bathroom with shower only. There is a wood stove and a fire pit outside. Burn bans are in place often so please check with the local fire department before burning outside. https://anrmaps.vermont.gov/websites/firedanger/VermontFireDanger.jpg The entire cottage is wood from floor to ceiling but there is carpet in the bedrooms. My grandfather built a lot of the furniture in the cottage and he added the living room and extended the bathroom sometime in the late 1980's. This cottage is very sentimental to my family and I know my grandparents are very happy that we are sharing their dream with others to enjoy.
Guest access
The entire Cottage and lawn off the porch is for your use. Please do not disturb neighbors unless it’s an emergency or you are all from the same party. The cottage is close to swimming, hiking, kayaking, and a little country store. The Cottage doesn’t have lake access but is very close to swim spots off highway 5A. The beaches are within driving distance. All swim spots are worth checking out!
Other things to note
There is an Indian burial ground behind the cottage. You are welcome to explore but please do not dig or remove any of the vegetation. Do not cut down trees. Please check the site below before starting fires outside in fire pit. Burn bans are very often in effect in Vermont and the fines are huge for burning during a burn ban.
