  • Nice, comfortable home on large lot with spacious lanai and fenced back yard. Use our home as a base for your Hawaiian adventure. Cook meals in our new kitchen with fresh, delicious and healthy fruits and veggies available at local markets. Barbecue on the lanai or eat out at restaurants in Pahoa, Keaau or Hilo. Travel the red road and explore the many hidden gems down paths through the jungle. Check out the beaches at Kehena, Pohoiki, and Hilo they are all beautiful and unique. Walk the short loop to Akaka falls and stop at the small town of Honomu on the way for some shopping, lunch and goodies. Stroll through our neighborhood in the morning or evening meet some local people and experience living with aloha. Check out a beautiful sun rise on the ocean 1 mile from the house. Pahoa town has everything you need, natural food store, grocery store, restaurants, banks, hardware store, churches, excellent community pool that is free, park.... New Puna Kai shopping center

Pleasant Stay

The house and property was clean and well maintained. It was spacious enough for our group of 8. It was comfortable for cooking and lounging. The only downside (which is common here) is lack of air conditioning. We enjoyed our stay. Would recommend and stay again.

Wonderful house for a family!

We absolutely loved this house. My sister and I traveled with our significant others along with our dad. We had three wonderful bedrooms to ourselves that were clean with windows and fans for cooler air in the evenings! The kitchen is well stocked with cooking tools and the outdoor kitchen is great for cooking during the heat of the day! The location is a little out of the way of beaches, but the drive is so worth it. The location was great for our day visit to the volcano park as well.

Perfect Home in the right place

The home is beautiful with lots of spread out space. The yard is like a botanical garden. The house is well stocked, clean, and comfortable. The pocation is perfect. I am so glad we decided to stay on the East side of the island. There is access to so many things and this house is perfectly placed. I accidently left stuff at the house and the host was quick to respond and help me to retrieve my things. Book it, you wont regret it!

Home away from home!

Our family enjoyed our stay and felt relaxed and at peace. The home was very clean, well stocked and furnished. The whole home was so comfortable and the decor added extra charm. The house was very spacious inside and outside, we enjoyed the beautiful landscaping. The kids enjoyed looking for geckos daily. We loved listening to the birds and sounds of nature. Jenell was very nice and quick to respond to any of our questions. She was helpful in suggestions for our drive over. We were caught in the tropical storm for a few days and the power had even gone out due to the weather just for a few hours. Luckily we had our own flashlights, but I would suggest some rechargeable lights or something available. We felt very safe at this home and neighborhood. Thank you for sharing your home and I would recommend to anyone searching for a great vacation home and experience. Mahalo!

Our 14 Days in the Airbnb in Hawaii

My husband, son and his fiance and I had stayed in this Airbnb for 14 days. We really had a nice time. The property manager (Jonelle) had everything available for use from maps, brochures of the area, beach toys, beach towels, lawn chairs, pool shoes, etc. It was a very clean home and nice environment. The backyard was beautifully landscaped as well. Overall, a very nice Airbnb. The Property Manager seemed like a nice person, too. She was willing to do whatever she could to allow us to have the two weeks there. Our daughter was expectung twins and due on June 20 th. That is why we were there in Hawaii at that particular time. We really didn't know if our daughter would have the twins early or not. It turns out that the twins did come early after all. Jonelle seemed to be understanding and accomodating so that we would be able to be there for the arrival of our granddaughters. Thank you for all your help, Jonelle.. We truly appreciate everything. Your Airbnb was beautiful and we loved the Lanai in the back, too. Thanks again!

Kumu Hale

We found Kumu Hale to be well appointed, and extremely clean. The house was tastefully decorated with art with a Hawaiian flair. We especially liked the large sea turtle wall hanging in the master bedroom. It was nice to have comfortable places to hang out both inside and out on the screened lanai. Having the main living space in between the master bedroom and the other two bedrooms provided privacy and allowed for bedroom doors to stay open for airflow at night. The temperature ranged between 64 & 82 so overall the house stayed comfortable without A/C. Lava right out the front door, tall foliage surrounding the yard, and of course the resident Coqui frogs made for an interesting and pleasing contrast to staying in a manicured resort area in Keauhou during the earlier part of our trip. Personally everyone in our group like the nighttime symphony of the frogs and whatever else was adding to the music of the night. Access to the Malama grocery store made buying groceries easy, and Pāhoa Village was charming. We highly recommend the Tin Shack bakery for espresso and pastries. Kumu Hale has easy access to the beautiful Government Road (formerly known as the red road) and from there the stark and bittersweet beauty of the recent lava flow of 2018 that devastated the Puna district. When we arrived, the kids first comment was "this place is really nice." We found that to be the case for our entire stay. We agree with the host, the covered lanai was our favorite room and we enjoyed eating there. We also enjoyed the large kitchen table that allowed us to work on puzzles during our free time.

Few days in paradise

Beautiful home, comfortable and lots of room for our family of 6 adults. You may need hear plugs with all the frogs chirping at night. It is a little out of the way but if you want to relax and don't mind the drive, this is the place for you.

Nestled in quiet neighborhood

This property was true to the listing and we would stay again in a heartbeat. We chose it for the location, the spaciousness, and the well appointed rooms. Favorite touches of the house - boogie bords, noodles, snorkel, and camping chairs for use, cordless vacuum, auto-icemaking refrigerator with filtered water (we don't have one normally so this was so nice!), and the lanai.While this location required a little bit of extra driving to get in and out, we found it well worth it to decompress from the days' activities. The kids said their favorite activites were going to Panaewa Rainforest Zoo, honey tasting at Punalani Bee Farm, and jumping off the stone tower at Moku Ola.

A great hub!

This was the perfect stay for the second half of our trip! Great location for exploring Hilo, Volcano National Park, and surrounding areas. Jenell was always very responsive and helpful. House was clean and perfect for 3 couples! Really enjoyed the three seasons porch.

Nice house and has everything needs for a family

We stayed for 4 days in the house. The place is super clean. It has everything that a family with kids need. I liked the small details the host paid attention to such as fresh flowers, surf boards and all the condiments required. The beds are comfortable and the backyard is huge. We enjoyed our stay here and will come back if we ever come back to big island :)

Beautiful home. Clean & spacious! We had plenty of room to spread out! We were hot though. No A/C. Also the pool wasn’t as close as we expected. A 10 minute drive. We didn’t make it there. We anticipated a walk for older kids. No biggie but felt like false advertising listing it on the information. Despite these few things, we did enjoy our stay!! Great location! Beautiful home. Great communication from the owners.
